Recruiting for a T20 Game

Since I can't shoot, fly, or fix anything to save my life, I guess I'd better take care of the trading side of things if I want to keep my job, eh?

I was thinking along the same lines of authority over circumstance (flight in command of and while underway, etc.). Could work but with a background of clear chain of command I'll work better with some ultimate authority, as long as said authority is legitimate. Now we could just in character hash it out, or a leader could step to front and take command. The Vargr seems to have a knack but taking orders from him might be problematic for some

Ohhh...that would be fun to do in character.

Trade and Supply are not really in my areas, oh sure I haggle over the cost of personal items at the market but that's a little different. If tasked in this area I'll give it my best shot. What? This? It's just for personal protection. Ok, let me rephrase that, I'll turn on the charm :D

Our cargo master should have some admin too.

Darius has pretty good trade, broker, K/Instellar Law, and P/Admin skills.

If our ship is TL15 I think the antihijack security is going to be pretty sophisticated and can recognize each of us biometrically and insure we are who we are. That said a simple backup is a good idea.
To quote the Master, "We should have shotguns for this."

Prefer e-mail. Besides my obvious medical capacity, I have some skills in Electronics and computers, some in trader and Liason. Some pilot skill as well if needed to man a grav vehicle of some sort. Dont think I will be shooting much from a starship.

Finally, after eight years of ho hum medical practice at ST&T they offer me a position on a trader. Took long enough. Father always said that with hard work and dedication, came rewards. Guess he was right. Ever since I was a little boy I have wanted to travel to distant worlds, see the universe! Throughout my college days while studying alien biology have I longed for this day. I even started hanging out at the Cladius Navy Star port, doing odd jobs for various people, earning some extra credits for school. Hope some of that experience helps on way to my new position. Well, here goes nothing.

I LIKE the idea that everyone of us gets cross trained, so anybody can fill in anywhere in a pinch. (Dr would be hard t fill in for,.. ) burt otherwise, yeah, if anyone wants to teach me to run the engins without blowing up the ship, I am game.

Jason.

The Solomani Party.

"The Party is All. The Party serves All... The Party keeps the Solomani Confederation free from subversion from outside and within. The First Men were barred long ago from the world that gave them birth. The Imperials had come and exacted a heavy toll on the Confederation's Forces, Until Earth itself was in Alien hands...

The Party is All. The Party Serves All... The Exiles wandered long, and set on to each other in endless wars between warlords and factions... True Humaniti had lost its focus... Then Came the Party... The Party brought Order to chaotic space... The Party beat back those that would take from the Inheiritors of the Universe..."

The Solomani Party has two levels. The Inner and Outer Party... The Inner party is a cooperative of the Galaxy's finest minds and titans of leadership, all committed to the ascendency Of True Humaniti to the rightful and complete control of settled space. The Outer Party are all the loyal, productive citizens that all strive to further the prosperity and desinty of the Confederation...

After seeing what these solimini folks think of me, I start to understand a little bit.

While I am all for trading roles aboard the ship, and would even be honored to be called captain aboard ship, if everyone feels that way, in port I think it would be best if I were treated in public as junior crew at best. I can play that role, for short times at least, whatever my real place is on the ship, I just think keeping up appearances may cause a lot of trouble to blow by that might otherwise get sucked into our hatch.

I know we have Sols on board, and no offence, but you all have some pretty uncivilized views about who to trust, and placing race before skill.

As a spacer, I learned a long time ago, that guy that you pal around with at the pub, is going to be the guy that LITERALLY holds your life in his hands on the ship. You had better get over worrying about how he looks, or for that matter, even if he keeps himself well groomed, long as he does his job.

All this party this, and Humaniti that, don't mean squat when you are half-way from one planet to the next and you start leaking 02, or the pirates come, or gods forbid, your jump-grid acts squirrelly. I know, I got cut pretty bad when I went out to repair the grid when we could not get a jump initiated. That was when a hull plate was loose, and crushed my leg.( that is where my limp comes from.) I had to trust those other guys with my life. No place for “racial pride” or “Inheritors of the Universe”???? We were all members of the same crew, clinking to a mighty small hunk of metal in the deep dark, trying to keep each other alive.

Just my rant. I am feeling a LONG way from home right about now. Just I plan to be a very small dog, in a very large world, and maybe folks will not want to make trouble for me.

Anyway, I don’t know any of you yet, and I certainly mean nothing personal, but I have a job to do. I get cargo from one port to the next. The rest of the universe will take care of itself, just like it did before I came along.

Any way, peace, and here’s to a happy crew.

Jason

Besides, these SolSec creeps are crazy enough that if they thought I had any authority at all abord the ship, they might suspect some of you were up to something.

So that's what all those internimable security checks where about.

Still can't get over the suspision I am being watched, just the same.

Well, I'm going to bet that Jhon Vaur Cocker is going to be the ship's pilot, since he's the only one with the vessel (starship) feat.

I'm updating the website with the character data.
So far, I've only got mine listed.
To avoid confusion, I'm posting the raw skill scores. If you posted skill scores with the various bonuses (bonusii?), please let me know.
It does look like at least one person did.

But at least two of us can crash, er, fly* it with style ;)

* I think the rules say anyone can do it without the feat but at the usual DC +4. I think that makes sense for a related feat like Ship's Boat (well, it should be related) and there should be no chance at all without either. Likewise I think piloting a small craft using the Starship feat should work the same way. But that may be just me, I'll bow to the referee as it's his game, but I would like to know just how it's going to work.

Yeah I noted and added in my bonuses too, to make it easier for the referee but I can list it either way for you. Do we mail you the data or can we upload it ourselves?

Thanks

Mr Tek

Good man Baron ;)

I actually sent MrTek an email with it a while ago but now I wonder if he got it since he hasn't replied (at least to the group, maybe just to the ref) to the signal test last night.
