I can get this in real life. It's paying the $3.99 a minute that hurts though. {and that 3.99 USD ---what people in the US so charmingly call "real money" as opposed to all that funny coloful stage money used in foreign countries.
What's this? It can't be Phone Sex. If it has "Sir" or "Your Grace" it must be English and everyone knows they reproduce by asexual cell division. So it must be some service designed to liberate aspiring noble wannabees from their credits....

I hate to say it but the ObTrav really is Obvious instead of Obligatory - such a service is probably just as viable in the OTU.

Maybe someone willing to pay a free trader to act as a flying broadcast box or comms center for such a thing on a short term basis. Or even worse, as a base for UCE (spam). Yikes... have to try one of these on my Merchant campaign players just for the laughs....

------ excuse me sir , but i would be grateful if you could refrain from mentioning , ahem , division in front of the children . thankyou .
( that will be $3.99 )

None o' that, now, folks. We want to keep this area clean, right?

Anyway, we love CT because of the over-complicated book 2 ship design program (I somehow think it's seriously broken...), and later the High Guard system, which I only looked at - I was scared right off!

The MT ship building rules would have killed you on the spot; TNE's would have caused spontaneous human combustion. The slow kind. . .

Sorry, are you being serious here?

Book 2 was: you need these components. Pick them out of these lists. Don't exceed the hull tonnage. Add up the costs.

There was a problem with non-starships, though.

One of the several broken aspects of T4 was its multiple incompatible ship design systems. The idea of having systems of varying complexity was a good idea, but, of course, its implentation was botched - as usual for T4.

MT's vehicle design system was a bit of a worry, too. First, it was a case of mandatory complexity - there wasn't a simple option. Secondly, and worse, the typos made it unusable. Finally, there were oddities with ground vehicles, where it was assumed that they would all have equal armour on all faces. The end result was that MT tanks were tin cans.

TNE - well, eww... Basically, there was no point in bothering without a spreadsheet, and ideally a whole bunch of predesigned components. Brilliant Lances provided at least some of the components, but still...

Anyone who couldn't work Book 2 can forget about any other design system.

73. Arguments over the Kinunuir's Imperial Warrant (or perhaps this doesn't happen until MT period? If not, substitute the magic words 'Jump Torpedos' for 'Imperial Warrant').
74. Lasers that weigh a ton and slug throwers that don't.
75. The word 'Canon' didn't mean much back then and it didn't start flamewars or gunfights.
76. A Solomani Rim that you could play a Terran in without needing to take a bath before AND after...
77. How else could you have so much fun with a few little black books, a couple of normal dice, and a few friends?

Aye, and it makes such a mess...

Oh, and you *don't* want to see videos.

ObTrav: 78. You can impress newbies like me with all your "good old days of Traveller" knowledge.

Classic Traveller and other forms of the game is THE most versitile and imaginative SFRPG that's ever been published. It is second to none with D&D. No one expected it to last over 25 years and the ideas and adventuring are endless and it is The most widely used game in the world.
