Skills in CT can have target numbers from 5+ to 11+, some are rolled by the referee and some by the player, skill level can provide a +1, a +2 or even a +4 bonus depending on the skill, some skills omit the target number altogether.
Now your referee may use a simple "roll 8+ to succeed, modify your roll with..." but that's a house rule...

Until a player notices the rules in the book contradict the referee who is making up the rollstask system??? gm uses common sence and tells you what to roll and what skill or attribute can be used to modify the roll. thats all the task system you will ever need.
