why we love ct

Jamus mused:
CT has all of that.
Scattered through eight books and dozens of adventures and supplements, not to mention Journals ;)

task system??? gm uses common sence and tells you what to roll and what skill or attribute can be used to modify the roll. thats all the task system you will ever need.
Until a player notices the rules in the book contradict the referee who is making up the rolls ;) .
Skills in CT can have target numbers from 5+ to 11+, some are rolled by the referee and some by the player, skill level can provide a +1, a +2 or even a +4 bonus depending on the skill, some skills omit the target number altogether.
Now your referee may use a simple "roll 8+ to succeed, modify your roll with..." but that's a house rule... ;)

of course this is just my opinion, everyone has one and they all smell like falucin groat dung.

I agree with you completely

By the way here is a copy of the DGP task system , it is a great add on to the CT system, IMHO of course ;)

Give that Hiver a Cigar!

Yes, that is exactly what irked me. And why (along with the combat rules) I'm an MT devotee. Not the setting, so much as the rules themselves. The task system does kind of make things more uniform. And that makes running with even less book referencing easier.

Me, my task system, some nicely generated PCs, and 2d6. Add a dash of imagination, a bit of prose, some liberal idea theft from fiction and history, and presto-change-o, you have a Traveller game!
