To MT or not to MT

BL: the slowest form of starship combat I've ever encountered in an RPG.

GDW House engine at it's absolute most convoluted.

Very detailed, and very realistic.

Ill throw you a bone: The MT Armor table gives steel equivalent thicknesses.

So far the locations have been in a homebrew setting I call the Clavian sector. Not sure where it would “fit” but I created it so I could have all my favorite aliens make an appearance. I have been a little fuzzy on its exact location to the capital but I am thinking that by the time the rebellion actually happens they will have minor title and a small armada of ships, enough to become involved on the edges. I plan for the sector to fracture along political lines I am setting up now so that the sector becomes a “front line” location between at least three factions including an Ine Givar uprising that may create a pocket empire out of a few disgruntled worlds. The fighting will be fierce and a couple of well developed planets will be reduced to rubble after the unfortunate perhaps accidental use of a city killer nuke in the 5mt range. I am setting up the political situation to be like a stereotypical late republic/early empire Rome.

Palace factions, ambitious military commanders, jealous third sons, typical stuff.

Star Wars, it definitely ain't. But I enjoy the extra detail it provides. If I want to do quick and dirty, I'll use the MT rules. If I am feeling really nostalgic, I'll break out Mayday. :D

Just got my MT CD-ROM.

Some of the tables are not readable. :(

Anyway, it is depressing. Talk about a downer.

End of everything. Now I don’t know if I will MT anymore. Who nees Virus. The nobles did a good job.

Dark, yes. Depressing, no.

Littered throughout MT are scattered resources of hope.

For some it lies within restoring the banner, others want to maintain honour, others just to survive.

It is a Rebellion, in which, everyone is called undertake a soul searching exercise and realize their actions may have consequences of a galactic proportion.

Travel between for trade & profit ducking fleets, blockades and armies in between. Are you a blockade runner or just a smuggler...but even a lowly smuggler can be called up to a higher calling.

Whilst, in pervious eras, soldiers of fortune merely fought as pawns in struggles between nobles and corporations whilst the Imperium merely yawned. Now, in the Rebellion, people are called up to be real soldiers defending hearth and home.

Aliens were held in check by a delicate balance of powers in earlier times, now that balance is shattered, who will be there to stop the genocide.

It is indeed a universe gone mad. But is your job to set it right. To hold candle, light the torch, keep the brightness of civilization alive against the onslaught of the darkness.

About the quality of CD ROM...yes, hopefully Marc will send you a new one when it get re-released as a better quality product.

The only campaign I liked set in MT was where the Rebellion was started by Slavers possessing Lucan and others of the Moot, who set this insanity into motion. This is the only setting where I could see that the players could make any difference at all, with the potential to set things right. The setting is too dark otherwise.
