To MT or not to MT

I'd say going MT ruleswise is a good idea.

Settingvise I'd just get Rebellion Sourcebook and keep CT if that what you're using now.

Saty away from the MT CD. It has no errata and the scan is apparantly of abyssmal quality. All MT books can be found on eBay frequently for ~$10 each.

You might use the MT set and just to stay in the "safe" areas.
In the Marches you can go on with the typical Traveller business for decades and if a couple of subsectors become to small, enlarge it by fleshing out complex star systems (kind of firefly enviromment).
So, you are able to stay in the timeline, where everything changes, but from the players perspective everything stays nearly the same (or just comfortable).
And you would not need any other ruleset, perhaps not even MT stuff. A few notes about factions or TNS messages, thats all.
Well, this might change if players want to get involved with the "things outside"

Mert

Good ideas all. I like TheEngineer's ideas about a creeping rebellion.

I am going to do the MT setting, just not in 1116! Heheheheh. That date is either going to slip by or the “big event” will happen before 1116. Going to mess with history too. Who knows who is going to win! I should do a poll and let COTI decide when the time comes. OR perhaps VIRUS will come along and “reset” the campaign.

Bawahahahahahahah…(breath)….. hahahahahahah!

From where I sit, one's best bet is to go ahead and use the MT systems for everything except:
</font>
  • Trade and Commerce</font>
  • Ship/Vehicle Design</font>
  • Ship Combat</font>
It's easy enough to adapt vehicular combat to the ships. I've done so on my website.

Counting the erratum in the Ref's Screen (x10 vehicular hits)
Hull Hits Inop= Td*13.5*10/15=Td*27/3=Td*9
Hull Hits Dest= Td*13.5*10/6=Td*67.5/3≅Td*22
Other System's Inops=HullHitsInop * ItemTd/HullTd
Other System's Dest's= 2xInop
AV

HG = MT
none = 40
1=50
2=58
3=64
4=68
5=70
6+= HG+65
(this does NOT follow the striker conversions, but does work out to be a better fit to the pens listed in MTPH on the SS Weapons Tables.

Im a fan of Bk2 T&C.
So I recommend Bk2 or T20 T&C.

I'm working on "Bk2ing" MT's goods tables.

BTW, since MT's "official" ship combat is a HG variant, Bk5 ships work just fine unconverted there... I just happen to hate/detest/abhor Bk5 combat, and the MT variant thereof.

Interesting, Aramis...

I am actually working on adapting MT ships to Brilliant Lances to use that for MT space combat...

BL: the slowest form of starship combat I've ever encountered in an RPG.

GDW House engine at it's absolute most convoluted.

Very detailed, and very realistic.

Ill throw you a bone: The MT Armor table gives steel equivalent thicknesses.
