Missions of State -- Does it suck or not?

It's the only Traveller book that I have deliberately passed up , after browsing through it in the shop. (I think I own at least one copy of every other official Traveller book and magazine.)

Another beautiful, colourful Chris Foss cover, "Missions of State are selected adventures geared to the complexities of intercultural intrigue. Nine adventures pit noble characters against formidable odds, moving among the Imperium's elite, all the while using their privileged rank to delve into intelligence gathering and espionage. With the emergence of empire come new challenges to the status quo, and power is there for anyone to grab! Missions of state is an excellent set of adventures for any Milieu 0 campaign." (From the back cover). Also good if you enjoy reading of the Traveller universe. As for playing the scenarios, only pinched ideas from them to incorporate into my own. You read the premise of the adventure, then the setup, and you are given statistics on relative NPCs, animals, and UWPs, and examples of ship cards. 111+ pages, b & w, sparse full page line-drawings per adventure by Steve Bryant.

What drove me off? The adventure seeds were thin, with not much in the way of support. Several had holes I spotted in the 5-10 minutes I browsed the book. I can't remember the details, just that this was the only official Traveller book I deliberately haven't bought.

A couple of the adventures are good. Some are obviously written by people who don't know anything about Traveller.

A lot of the T4 stuff was written by people who didn't know Traveller, like that awful adventure in the relaunch of JTAS where they seem to have miraculously developed faster than light communications.

The only official Traveller book I've deliberately not bought was First Survey. Vland had a population in the thousands, several racial homeworlds had no population, every planet had at least a basic starport. <shiver>

Thanks for the input. I recently got Milleu 0 and enjoyed that so far. More so than any of the TNE stuff that I have seen recently.
