MegaTraveller CDRom?

Would you be interested in purchasing such a CDRom for $40.00?

I think that it ought to include all parts of DGP that can be taken out.

For instance, all articles written by GDW staff, including Marc would fall back to him.

Also, the Lords of Thunder was apparently produced by GDW although issued by DGP ought to be included.

While I'm totally in favor of any of that information that can see the light of day making it into a reprint....

That depends on the agreement under which the matierial went to DGP - if it was simply licensed to them then, yes it should return to the author(s). But if the actual articles were done as 'work for hire,' as is common in the States, then the copyright stays with DGP and its heirs assignees etc. (i.e. HIM)

IANAL but DGP was licensed to produce Traveller material by GDW. Whatever agreements were made when DGP published the work of Marc and other GDW employees would be the same as that made by any other author as this was probably a freelance tranaction. Some have enough clout to retain their rights - most end up selling it off as work for hire.

Otherwise Joe Fugate and all of the other authors could just collectively or individually reprint the material.

From what I understand, Marc owns all of the GDW Traveller material (although he still has to pay royalties to the authors - Loren, John etc.) and the Traveller NAME. He has acquired the rights to the FASA and Gamelords material. IIRC Hunter owns the rights to the Judges Guild stuff.

All of the legal stuff on my copy of MTJ 4 says DGP. Lords of Thunder was originally going to be published as a stand alone by Seeker Gaming Systems (the Deck plan guy) but that fell through and DGP published it in MTJ 4. Depending on how Mr Keith sold the work it could still be in play.

Anyways - my cr0.02 - I hope you're right and I'm wrong. But I doubt it.

Um, YES YES YES A THOUSAND TIMES YES!

(No this does not mean you can ship me 1000 CDs....)

I will even volunteer to pre-pay if that helps this ball get rolling.

I think my minimums are:
1. Insert the errata. Yes, it's a pain. But a pain done once instead of once by each purchaser is a much smaller pain.
2. Put the CD in a jewel case, but art can be as simple as a black field, a shattered sunburst and the words MegaTraveller.

I too would love to see a dead tree version (hardcover), but since this won't happen, I definitely want the CD.

It'd be nice to see all the fancy weapon sheets and equipment sheets that they did up for MT, but these may be Caswell/DGP items, I dunno. They were one of the best parts of the game for players... just hand them the sheet with the stats on their gear and the tasks. Handy.
