MegaTraveller CDRom?

Would you be interested in purchasing such a CDRom for $40.00?

Great news

When can I send the mony?

Any idea when this will be released?
Who will be distributing this?
When will you start taking advanced orders?

A couple of thoughts...

Erratta corrected is a definite plus - almost a must, although 'editable' implies we can correct it ourselves if needs be.

Articles from Challenge also would be a definite plus.... since the CT 'canon' also includes JTAS and Challenge - MT 'canon' should do likewise. 'twould be nice to have all of the MT Challenge material gathered in one place as the MT content gets a mite thin in later issues...

'Editable forms' tables etc. are much more likely to occur if Marc doesn't have to do the work. Petetion your favorite Guru.

Packaging is not a big deal - black with red text would do just fine :D

ps I'll be buying it just as soon as there is something to buy - but then, Marc could write 'Traveller' on a piece of cardboard in felt tip pen and I'd probably buy it...... TravWhore that I am.

Heh. I've only been asking him to do this for the past several years... I'd buy it in a heartbeat. $40? That all? Paper sleeve is fine too.

The biggest problems for me are how long would it take to put such a disk out and how would it impact the other reprints - I have been chomping at the bit for T2K V2 sinve V1 shipped, for example and as much as I would love this disk, I don't want to see the other reprints get significantly slowed by this.

At present Marc has committed to the CT reprints which are mostly completed, the T2K reprints which are just started, and the 2300 reprints that haven't even begun. Plus there are a number of other GDW products that he owns the IP for that I would love to see reprints of (anyone here ever play Assualt?). The MT material is desireable, but the real question in the end, for me, is what is the non-monitary cost?

I'd like to add my voice to the emphatic YES! group.

Do we know when this might be available?

Thanks,
Flynn

My thoughts on this:

I'd certainly purchase a copy, no matter the packaging. Nice packaging would be a plus, but is inessential for such an otherwise uncollectible item.

I'd be interested to know how these materials will be presented. I'm assuming as PDF, with the text being either a) dumps from whatever electronic source materials GDW originally used or b) OCR'd from product scans and presumably spellchecked and reformatted. Will these try to be "facsimile" versions, or just huge blobs of text?

In any case it sounds like a fair amount of work, and a fair price! There are still a number of CT materials that I hope to purchase in reprint, but I would certainly support an MT digitial release if a paper reprint is unfeasible.

I'd rather see a print re-release in 3 volumes (v1: boxed set + Rebellion Sourcebook + Ref Companion; v2: COACC, SSotFI, Knightfall, Hard Times, 3 folios; v3: collected Challenge articles) but I suppose that's not feasible. To be honest, a CD release isn't very interesting to me and I doubt I'd buy it.

Marc has pretty definitively stated that any MT reprints would only be done on CD-ROM, not on paper.

Based on the wording of Hunter's posts, I assume this position has not changed.
