LBB Vehicles

Hi Sigg,

I'll stand corrected, but there are still a number of other references that list TLs other than 17. Wouldn't you agree?

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Piper,

I think no cost for basic hulls is fine; armored hulls can add to cost considerably.

How would a grav tank look with this system?

TOTAL (0) MCr1.4</pre>[/QUOTE]I like the armoring rules: very simple. No "toughness" versus "strength" or whatever.

And if I assumed "antigrav" is what ship's boats use for propulsion:

A significant portion of military vehicle's cost is in sensors and electronics. Those systems are under development, but will add 2 to 3 times the cost to a vehicle.

Your tank example would be a minimal weapons carrier; no secondary armament, no turret, minimum speed. That would seem about right extrapolating from examples in MT's 101 Vehicles.

The ship's boat design is a vehicle, rather than a spacecraft. The drive unit you installed gives it a top speed of 120kph.
There is no bridge or computer in your example, so you're looking at bare hull, 2 couches and minimal drive.

This system is not intended to design small craft as the maximum drive unit can only achieve 1200 kph; similar to an LBB speeder.

It is far from perfect, but it can produce reasonable results with a small amount of effort.

Good points Piper, but I'll take exception with your last statement:

> It is far from perfect

For my purposes, it's closer to perfect than more complex systems.

I would stay as far away as possible from LBB8 for a vehicle design system - it doesn't even seem to match the rules for other kinds of systems in the other books. It is confusing on top of everything else. I am finding it very hard to design a robot with the thing, much less a vehicle.
I completely agree with Fritz here. LBB8 (as most who have it already know) does a craptastic job of creating Robots. What makes anyone think it can design Vehicles well?

LBB8 *should* have been completely revised (like High Guard got a complete revised edition) to make it respectable. But GDW never got around to doing that.
