Favorite Rebellion alternate ending?

My players assassinated Lucan, in order to allow Dulinor to be confirmed by the Moot... a moot they made certain was loyal by use of illicit methods (including psionics).

They made it clear in Margaret's head she'd be executed if she didn't vote for Dulinor. So she stayed home... and the combined Core and Illellish factions were able to...

And Norris fell in line as soon as the moot confirmed Dulinor.

Which fleets did they command?

They didn't command fleets. Half the party were retired nobles, the other half retired scouts. Luckiest damned SOB's on Psi rolls, tho. They got an audience, then teleported in a weapon. Imagine the look of surprise on Lucan's face... they'd been cleared by security.

Retired Dukes, from the Noble career, are likely to be quite well connected. Especially the one who made that in 3 terms flat. (Due to a house rule, one was a duke's son; we picked that he was the son of Delphine of Mora.

A small group can make big impacts. Especially by convincing people who are in a "safe place" to act in reasonable but not personally felt ways.

Aramis,

That sounds pretty cool. Out of curiosity, why did the group back Dulinor? Was it because of Norris grabbing the Archduke reins in front of Delphine?

Hmm... not from the core...

It could work. It would take time, though. Sheer communication lag would ensure that, even without any hardliners and holdouts.

Then there would be the other factions to deal with. The Solomani (and Vargr) would have to be fought.

Basically, I think this "ending" would be more like 1943 than 1945. It would represent the turning of the tide, rather than the end of the war.

Which is fine, and would make a good game.

It would have to be a high-level game though, if the same PCs were to be used.

No, more to do with being unificationists, while Norris was a separatist. Norris was a close personal friend of one of the PC's (Homeworld= Regina, Service=Noble, Starting rank=Baron, ending rank=Duke), said duke having been "Court Duke of Regina", the duke assigned to run Regina SS for Norris when he stepped up to being the Archduke. It was a political game from hell...

The PC's were made aware, as background, of Dulinor's reforms, and Norris' parallel reforms in Deneb, as well, and also the players knowing about the right of assassination. One quick encounter with Lucan was all it took; they were sent as part of the Marches delegation to the moot, and holding proxies for half the imperial dukes of the Marches. Upon finding the Vilani separation, Lucan's insanity, and other factors, their choices were Norris' separationism AND democratism, he was not a viable long-term choice.

That leaves Dulinor, Margaret, Craig, Warnier, "The Real Strephon," and Brzk. Brzk was unacceptable, not due to speciesism, but to flakiness. Craig and Warnier likewise to Norris are separatist. Margaret is out based upon her ties to SSOM (another PC was cybered, lightly, but cybered). The "Real Strephon" lacked credibility, in part due to not being willing to attend the moot; they later executed him for treason against emperor Dulinor.
