Once again, universe continuity gets shot all to h$ll for the whims of a spoiled, "I'll do it my way and to f&@k with everything that came before", arseheil director.
:nonono::nonono::nonono:

Interestingly, the plot supposedly addresses the continuity issue, but we will see if it makes any kind of sense.

You missed my fave.

The only one with a Spinal Weapon.

(It is a single sequence future echo cameo - being commanded by Worf no idea what the designation would be)

I didn't miss it. I thought about listing it, but it was from a "possible" future--not "the" future.

Here it is for those who missed the episode. Three warp nacels. Some type of spinal-mount-ish beam weapon. And, some pointy antennas shooting out from the bridge:

For my .02CrImp,
1701 too sweet for words
NX-01 credible, and had character
1701-A close to second
TOS remains to be seen, but she does have the whole new ship mystique thing going
1701-C harkens back to the 1701

Never ever cared for the B, D or E.:nonono:

Ummm... TOS stands for "The Original Series" (nice smooth white ship hull, Shatner as Kirk, Nimoy as Spock)... NOT the new "old Trek" movie.

For my vote, that "Worf's Enterprise" is what the -E should have been (not the "jumbo-sized Voyager" thing)... that gets rid of the whole "ridiculously oversized saucer & microscopic engines" crap that made -D unbearable for me! The 3 engines nicely balance the saucer!

Of course, my favorite TOS ship (which never appeared in the series) was the "Dreadnaught" from the Star Fleet Technical Manual... again, 3 engines!

But then, there is the "Light Cruiser" I whipped up from an AMT Enterprise model back in the mid-late 1970s (my early-mid teens):

Nice conversion work, BB..

Oh, and the Tech Manual ships all appear in STTMP... in various monitor screens.

...and they mention at least one ship from the Tech Manual by number in radio chatter. I seem to recall seeing at least one FASA Trek ship showing on a monitor in TWOK(?).

BlackBat242, I have to agree, I'm a huge fan of the Tech Manual dreadnaught. Battleclinic has a nice rendition...

And that is one cool ship you built there! Bravo!

I beleive the Dreadnaught makes a cameo appearance (as does the UFP HQ Space Station) in the Phase II fan series.

IIRC, the 3 nacelle dreadnaught and the single nacelle destroyer (Saladin) were Franz Joseph designs but they didn't match Gene Roddenberry's original concept of how warp drives worked; essentially, Gene stated 2 nacelles were required to generate a warp field acting like poles of a magnet. Also according to Gene, the nacelles must also have no obstructions between them to work correctly; if you'll note, Romulan Bird-of-Prey, Klingon D-7 cruisers, and even the Reliant have nacelles that are off set from the main body of the ship with nothing in line of sight between them. Picard's Stargazer still held to this concept if you accept that the nacelles would only operate in opposing pairs, not simultaneously.

This design convention eventually fell out of favor resulting in ships like Defiant, numerous shuttles, and now the Kelvin.

If you're interested, there's a very good Trek novel the features the dreadnaught...called...um...DREADNAUGHT!

And, the semi-sequel is called BATTLESTATIONS!

Yep... got & read them when they came out... of course that was in 1986 when they both first came out... 10 years after my brothers & I got our 1st-printing copy of the Star Fleet Technical Manual.

Of course, some didn't think it was so good...

Battlestations and Dreadnought!, Carey's first novels in the Star Trek franchise, received significant criticism over what was perceived as Carey's telling of a Mary Sue story. The criticisms resulted from Carey's admission in an interview shortly after the second novel was released that the character of "Piper" was specifically based on herself, and that the supporting cast of Academy graduates were based on her closest friends as well.

As "Piper" goes beyond the means of the character's skills and saves the Enterprise where the regular crew could not, many readers and critics viewed the novels as being Trek-versions of Mary Sue stories. Such stories were usually relegated to the more secluded corners of Trek fandom, normally shared only between fans on a one-to-one basis, or in limited publication via fanzines. In these "Lt. Mary Sue" stories, a young, usually female, lieutenant would save the ship from certain danger using skills or knowledge outside of her training and discipline, and in almost all cases would wind up winning the heart of at least one of the bridge crew members - usually one James Tiberius Kirk or Mr. Spock.

Despite initial critical derision, Carey's novel, Final Frontier - a pre-Original Series novel dealing with the launching of the Enterprise - received far more positive acclaim than her first two novels. The title is not to be confused with the fifth Star Trek film, The Final Frontier, or Carey's later TOS novel First Frontier, which featured the crew traveling back to the age of the dinosaurs.

This criticism is excessive, as in these books Piper has little or no romantic interest in the "old fogeys"... her relationship with Kirk is (professionally) a "Mentor-Pupil" and (personally) a "surrogate Father-Daughter" one, her romantic inclinations are reserved for her peers (age-wise as well as rank).

They are fairly decently-written... but I wouldn't call them "great".

That's my memory of them, reading them when they came out. Sometimes, when you revisit something (a movie or book) that you thought was "great", you realize your tastes have matured, and what you thought was "great" ain't so great.

I've got them to re-read them. We'll see if I still think, after all these years, that they're great.

Mine as well. Diane Carey was an SFB playtester, as was Vondra McIntire. Both show strong SFB influences in their novels.

I like TOS Enterprise.......simply because of all the SFB games I've played (I even imagine Kirk's voice when reading the manuals)

For me it has to be the 1701 pre and post refit. Probably because I grew up with the original series and ST2 The Wrath of Khan is probably the best ST film made too date. Have to wait and see with the new one.

Enterprise B

Its a tough call. But I'd say I always preferred NCC1701B. Simply put it looked sturdy with contemporary flare. The new movie enterprise looks great as does the spinal mount alternate history. Of course, Star Empire was an excellent book ship.

Best Movie- yeah its hard to beat Khan but I liked Generations too.
Best two Episodes- Trouble with Tribbles and Yesterday's Enterprise

The preview for the new movie looked pretty good on an IMAX screen.
