Space 1889

It seems to me that a T20 version of this game could potentially be very D&D-like, at least with the sort of creatures you'd encounter on Venus and Mars. Venus had lizardmen, and Dinosaurs. Mars has humanoid aliens, no magic of course, but its kind of counterintuitive to expect any sort of space opera set in 1889 to be realistic. One thing about it, is the setting is on a smaller scale than any of the other versions of Traveller besides Twilight 2000. There is no need for any sort of UWP. The rules for building spaceships will be a little different, with steam drived either propellers to move the ships around

Actually, I have a red zone world in my campaign that's a D&D world.

Don't forget the liftwood! Add in the ironclads/dreadnaughts/steampunk vehicles and you've got a heck of a lower TL world/worlds to explore! (I'm biased I admit)

Goodman Games has some Dinosaurs and Airship type books and Bastion Press has a Airships book. There are probably others.

Yeah somewhat D&D like though if you add in gunpowder, etc. type weapons (esp. bolt action rifles and early machine guns) and T20's damage rules instead HP it would be a lot more deadly.

Big Game Hunter and Barbarian would really come in handy here as well as Academic/Professional. Throw in a Damsel in distress and a sneaky Prussian type spy or two. Muhahahah!

The Martians are an ancient culture. Now on a planet with liftwood, its is not inconceivable that the Martians might know of some other plants that could be used to make D&D style healing potions. They are a dying decandant culture, but they know alot of stuff that Earth people don't. Also the deadliest weapons are probably Martian artifacts. The Martians don't make them anymore, but they can maintain them according to their ancient tradition. Space 1889 would make a great T20 setting.
