First of all, I would like to wish all of you in the States a happy Fourth of July. I hope you enjoy the celebrations.
I won't forget the date in a hurry because my package arrived today (Traveller 5th arrived on the 4th).
Give or take a few hours it is 3 months to the day since I originally ordered the book. A few weeks later I ordered the dice set.
The first thing I did this morning was wake up my 13 year old son as I promised him that he could open the package. It must have been a funny sight to behold, the 2 of us, 2 little kids jumping up and down with excitement.
My son carefully opened the well sealed box and inside was another box containing the book. Also inside the main box was a padded envelope which, I assumed, contained the dice set.
Our excitement turned to absolute glee and we yelped and high-fived each other at what we found inside the envelope:
Not only the dice set, but the T5 CD-ROM and a small bag containing 4 extra dice (1 of each colour), 2x 25Cr coins and a Patent Of Nobility Card.
Even as I type this, over 2 hours after opening the box, I am still trembling with excitement!!
The Patent Of Nobility Card reads:
KNIGHT OF THE DOMAIN OF DENEB, SPIN 3123, NADRIN, D420203-7
I am so truly grateful to Marc for sending these items, and for personally signing my book. I haven't mentioned opening the book as I have been reading my son's copy for the last week and I knew what to expect. Needless to say we opened this last but will get many, many years of joy out of it.
The dice are really superb quality. I think they are 19mm and they are nice and heavy with machined numbers in Imperial starbursts.
The CD-ROM is excellent and contains not only the T5 PDF master text file, but individual PDF files of the Core Book in bite-sized page counts. It also contains JPEG files of all the ships from the colour section of the book, JPEGS of various logos from FFE and GDW and (I love this) RTF font files for all the text and graphic design used in the core book. Finally there are 2 separate JPEG files of the Character Card (front and back).
Only yesterday I was contemplating ordering this CD-ROM as I will need to print out many of the forms and it would prove very difficult, and possibly damaging to the spine of the book, to photocopy many of the pages. As it happened I couldn't order the CD-ROM yesterday as finances wouldn't allow it, so I am delighted that I have this. It will prove invaluable to me over the next few months and years.
Phew! That's it. Now we have 2 core books in the house. My son can relax in the knowledge that I won't be 'borrowing' his copy to look through, and I can relax knowing that my copy will not be 'borrowed'.
I would just like to finish by saying thanks very much to everyone involved in this incredible project. Your hard work and dedication will provide many more years of gaming pleasure to my family.
Cheers
Matt
