CT Only: Hand-to-Hand and/or martial art combat

I have been toying the idea of Logan's Run as soon as I am done with The Descent of Anansi by Larry Niven.

Do you have the isbn of the book? Since it was also a movie are there two different version? I know sometimes an original gets published, then after the movie comes out - another version Based on the movie is published.

The original book (part of a 3 part planned trilogy IIRC that never got completed) is vaguely similar to the movie. But the death age was different, no domed city as they had the whole Earth to roam in. And (I may be conflating stories now) Logan was getting smuggled to Mars, which was where the 2nd book was to be placed.

Sort of like Planet of the Apes - the original book was entirely different than the movies (high tech Apes in Space! Studio figured they could not afford the effects so changed, well, pretty much everything)

Hmm...

Why do I have three books, published by Bantam?

Logun's Run, 1967, with photos from the movie, 1976

Logan's world, 1977

and Logan's Search, 1980

Books have been written about how Logan's Run was supposed to save MGM from going under and start a whole new era of people going to see MGM motion pictures again in theaters. Dystopia films were not the way to bring customers into theaters though. See Star Wars.

Side note, I'm currently re-working My Traveller Combat, based on the system in Dungeon Grappling* and GURPS: Technical Grappling. The difference is, I'm trying to apply it to all close combat, since IMO, the principles are sound for weapons, too:).

I'll report more after I try it out;).

Thr trilogy did get completed - two sequels were published: Logan's World and Logan's Search. I recall reading all of them some years ago.

Now I'll have to see if I can find them.

And I do remember the TV series. I have the movie on DVD, I probably should rewatch it at some point.
