Displacement of Jump-Stuff

MGT1, it's also possible to make a 1G J4 courrier. Short the cargo for sensors, and it makes a decent fleet scout.

In MgT1 you can even build a J5 2G unmanned jump courrier drone (I guess that would be an enlarged jump torpedo). See Zhodani Drone Courrier (though, as explained in the thred, I latter thought it would be better fit for K'Kree, who would have problems in keeping manned small courriers).

To displace as we understand it you need two objects with volume, both composed of matter. Matter cannot exist naturally in jumpspace which means there is no medium to displace. Not a physical medium that itself occupies volume, in the Archimedean sense.

Thanks for the info. I don't own T5.

RE jump space publishing history

JTAS #22 contains an article titled 'From Port to Jump Point.'' That sounds relevant. But I don't have the issue. I found an index online.

#24 has an article titled 'Jumpspace'' by none other than Marc Miller.

And the Traveller wikia references that same issue.

The wiki also refers to Library Data, which is an earlier source.

Maybe jump space was first named and described in that?
