X-boat/X boat tender T20?

Qstor2

SOC-13
Pardon me *total* non gearhead here

If I'm missing something...But I searched his board and the .pdf T20 products and didn't see where I could find the stats for these ships.

thanks all!

Doh...I have that and forgot to check it.

thanks

grahhh?? braaains??

:)

I know I did build them both years ago. All I seem to be able to find is a saved HGS Beta version of the X-Boat I was working on. Looks mostly finished. Naturally I did not optimize it, preferring to attempt to recreate the spirit of the original with the new rules. Here it is:

Code:
Ship: XB-20-01 Architect: Journeyman Design Bureau

USP XB-12404D1-000000-00000-0 100 Tons
Bar Crew: 1
Bat TL: 13

Base Cost MCr 116.000
Architects Fee: MCr 1.160
Cost in Quantity: MCr 92.800

38 Weeks Singly, 30 Weeks in Quantity

DESIGN COMMENTS
The Commo Suite is installed as a Laboratory and handles all the X-Boat
E-mail traffic.
The hard point does not mount a turret normally and is used for 1ton of
hard mail.
While streamlined the ship has no maneuver drive. It could theoretically
make a safe atmospheric entry and hard landing if close enough to a world.
The oversized power plant permits rapid charging of the jump drive and
quick turnaround. There is only enough fuel to see the ship through jump.
I can probably throw together a classic tender later today.

You're welcome Mike, sorry for the delay on the Tender, it fought me, then stuff came up, retackling it fresh came out more the way I remember but still not quite 100%. Good enough though ;)

Naturally if you wanted, you could just take any CT HG design and it should be pretty much compatible with T20 :)

Now then, first a caveat, this Tender is not your father's Tender. The X-Boat Tender is one of a very few (or the only) that I think is simply wrong.

How do I mean that? Well Jump 1 for a ship that has to get out to systems that serve J4 X-Boats. How does it do that? Very slowly (J1 at a time using the cavernous hold for extra fuel storage)? That's silly, imo. Especially when there is room for J4. I also envision the Tender doing SAR for missing X-Boats (rare as that is) and needing higher jump to do that. And of course in wartime it would be much more valuable an asset if it could keep up with the fleet. It can manage J4 using demountable tanks in the cavernous hold and still carry a single X-Boat (tough maintenance is not possible). And since it has J4, and the required powerplant, why not M4 as well to speed up chasing down those X-Boats as they pop in.

The extra Engineers for the added drives are not normally engaged in that much maintenance on the Tender's jump drive, but they are kept busy working on the X-Boats.

So, my version of the X-Boat Tender:

Code:
Ship: XT-20-10 Architect: Journeyman Design Bureau

DESIGN COMMENTS
The Commo Suite is installed as a Laboratory and handles all the X-Boat
E-mail traffic.
The hard points do not mount a turret normally.
The ship is streamlined and may skim fuel but usually employs scheduled
delivery of fuel in posted systems and purifies on board.
The service bays can carry 4 X-Boats but is more often limited to 2
while undergoing maintenance and service to allow working room.
The X-Boat Tender is effectively a Class B Starport for up to 2 X-Boats
at a time, without the shipyard capability.
If there are any questions on either design fire away. I know I rushed the posting of them and what seems obvious to me might not to anyone else.
