Will T5 be here by the end of the year?

Absolutely, I agree with the "Fast, Good, cheap" scenario. I would rather wait a little and get a better copy, even though I'm really hanging out to see a bit more of T5.

I definitely believe that FFE is fully reliable. Marc would certainly not be in this business for the money (what money?) but for the love of the material.

And thanks to Coliver988 who mentioned That while I thought it might slip, and it has a bit, I still think it's on it's way.

Personally, I would have been shocked, perhaps even a bit offended, if it had shipped on time. :D

LOL! I just want it to be worth the wait. One month doesn't matter, what matters is content. What can I DO with T5, and does it hang together? Etc.

Things that go BOOM are high on my list; Fire Fusion and Steel was the latest way (apart from GT) of building things like that. If T5 gives me a way to build weapons, then that helps in my mind.

Sorry, just a leeetle digression there.

I like a lot of the stuff I've been seeing lately, but it has rough edges to sand and you can never test enough. It looks at this point like he's working to get it out the door, after which point we can collectively pound it into submission.

Excellent news! I look forward to pounding :frankie: ... though I hope not too much heavy pounding will be needed... :)

Way I see it (and YMMV) is that I've waited for it long enough that a short delay is no big deal.

Concur completely. That is what I am looking for from T5.

I ordered T5 around Turkey Day and got the bonus stuff after the new year. Marc was kind enough to drop me an e-mail when it was sent. Not bad considering I am overseas and it came at a lower postage rate.

T5 publication update

Hi
I got this a few days ago;

Traveller 5 News Jan 31, 2008

I want to thank every one of you for your support as we bring the T5 CD ROM to publication. Your confidence in this project is extremely gratifying. Thank you.

Of course, T5 is facing some delays. Every fix and edit we make seems to ripple through the entire text. Even at this late stage, new ideas seem to generate themselves. We’re now looking at March 1 (and thank goodness for that extra day in February this year!).

It was, wasn't it?

How else should I sign my messages? Perhaps I should have placed quotes about Marc Miller's portion of the message?

Perhaps.

BTW, I edited you post to include quote tags. You can hit edit to see how it works

LOL! I assume he's talking about the book by Jack Vance...?

THAT's where that name came from. I knew it sounded familiar. Much better. That replaces the Vegas magic act image that was stuck in my head. Sorry, Rhialto! :p

Getting back to the topic...

I assume that the purpose of releasing T5 on CD is to allow for intensive review and generation of errata, with a follow up print version of the game being based on any changes required from the CDROM version. If this is true, will the print version be pushed out another month or two as well?

Also, any word on what format Marc is likely to go with on the print version?

I doubt a print version will come out any time in the near-term. It will take at least several months for the playtest-version CD to generate the full spectrum of feedback necessary to commit to a print version.

This makes me a bit nervous, since T5 is the version I plan to "go with," and it's been a long time since I played anything.

I'm not a rules mechanic whiz like some of the pros on this board.
