Will T5 be here by the end of the year?

See, now I'm conflicted. The Far Future site say's that the information on the T5 Cd is subject to change before the printed version of it comes out. I'm not sure if I should pre-order it and take my chances, orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr , order the CT Cd which everyone is raving about. Hmph.....

I preordered on Dec 16th, and still haven't seen hide nor hair of my preorder pack goodies.
 
I happened to e-mail Marc a little while ago and got a very positive response about the T5 CD. (I'm an Aussie, and I was talking international postage arrangements with him, Ross). But I think he is flat out getting it out the door, in as best condition as possible. So, yeah, it may slip a bit, a few weeks, but I think it's thoroughly dependable.

From an e-mail I just received from Marc Miller:

Of course, T5 is facing some delays. Every fix and edit we make seems to ripple through the entire text. Even at this late stage, new ideas seem to generate themselves. We’re now looking at March 1 (and thank goodness for that extra day in February this year!).

Well. I guess that means it will be a better product when it comes out...

Perseus says on January 29th that Mr. Miller is dead set on getting it out for deadline, and then two days later Coliver988 says Miller is aiming for March 1st.

I wonder what happened int those 48 hours... :confused:
 
So long as it's still being cleaned up, I can wait. I'd rather keep waiting for a decent product than have another Errata-palooza! :)

So nothing changed - March 1 is within a few weeks. And from past experience with the CT & JTAS CDs, the initial deadlines are optimistic from Far Future Enterprises, but they do deliver. Heck - most of my deadlines are optimistic!

And I too would rather wait a few weeks and get a hopefully better product. I've plenty of patience for some things.

Agreed.

For those who haven't gotten the email yet, be advised that Marc is offering a payment return if a March 1 release date is unacceptable. He also wrote that those who have NOT gotten their preorder goodies to let him know.
 
The deadline was optimistic. I think Marc could work two more years on T5.

That said, another month will help, for sure. I like a lot of the stuff I've been seeing lately, but it has rough edges to sand and you can never test enough. It looks at this point like he's working to get it out the door, after which point we can collectively pound it into submission.
