General Things you are no longer allowed to do in Traveller

The powered armor helps stabilize the recoil from the flavor profile.

(Wait. MgT might not have done man-portable energy weapons the way CT did, in which case... if I have to explain, it stops being funny.)

* sigh *
Yeah, I was right. As described in MgT's Central Supply Catalog, PGMPs/FGMPs only require operators to be wearing battle dress because the weapons are (uniformly) bulky. In LBB4 (Mercenary), the PGMP-13 and FGMP-14 require operators to be wearing battle dress because the powered armor serves as the weapons' recoil carriage!

(PGMP-14 and FGMP-15 have gravitic recoil compensation and do not require battle dress.)

I like the visuals of the older versions better. It's not just a big blaster to wave around -- it turns your trooper into a walking direct-fire artillery piece!

So, an apron and a spatula?

Or did you mean Master Chief?

:cool:
Maybe...

And in looking up the FG(now H)P in MgT2, I noticed that battledress improves Dex as well as strength, and that therefore starship gunners should all be in BD. But not the mechanics or engineers, because that's all mental stuff.

Jump regardless of, at the instant you press go, anything bigger than you happening to be in a line with the place you would be in our universe at the time you would be there if you were travelling in real space faster then light rather than in another dimensional plane completely separate from the real universe.

And they vomit forth rads. Definitely not Funtime weapons.

In MgT (at least 1E) the recoil is not the only reason to need a BD to use a FGMP:

MgT1E Main Book page 102:

Those without radiation protection who are nearby when a FGMP is fi red will suffer a lethal dose of radiation – each fi ring of an FGMP emits 2d6 20 rads, which will affect everyone within the immediate vicinity.

So, I'd add to the thread:

Using a TL 15 FGMP witout wearing a Battledress
