Anyone watch The Tomorrow People? It's a surprisingly good show, that could serve as a example of an underground psionics movement in the Imperium. The main characters are basically a rip-off of the King Arthur story, but it's pretty good.

I saw the pilot for this reboot (I was a fan of the original show back in the 70s) but it didn't grab me ... but maybe I should give it a second try.
If you want material for a psionic underground try hunting down the adventures for the PsiWorld (RPG). The game had an interesting concept in that either psionics were persecuted innocents or terrorists. You could play it whichever way you wanted.

I discovered and enjoyed the original ~5-7 years ago (it has it's issues, and a lot of thoroughly-conditioned wouldn't be able to handle the pacing, but it's a quality hopeful concept). That's the 70s original version. There was actually already a "new" version made in the 90s that is reportedly not very good at all.
This reboot? Really not quite a reboot, has (almost) nothing to do with the original (unless they plan to bring in the "alien" aspects in later years). It's packed full of cheese. Yet, it's surprisingly good, and watchable for a show I expected to hate. Hope it lasts awhile.
Still, hard to understand how it could possibly have a happy ending, as things stand now, it's really remarkably horrible dark view of the issue.

The Tomorrow People, wow that takes me back to my childhood. Don't remember too much about it though.
I like that one. I missed the first 4 episodes, tho. Definitely a Traveller-esque setting.
For an excellent story about a 'rogue' psionic family in modern times, read "Impulse", Steven Gould. (There is at least one other book, Jumper, prior in the series, which I haven't yet read).

Not specifically Traveller teleport, but a very good read, well-written, and an excellent modern take on how a family could use it's natural teleport ability to help others (and attempts to avoid detection by the typical 'behind the scenes evil group). The couple's teenage daughter develops a very... interesting combination of teleport and telekinesis, which could be a very nasty surprise to spring on unsuspecting pc's. :devil:

I'm enjoying the show as well. My only complaint so far is the lack of the underlying plot that seemed to be evident in the pilot, but hasn't been referenced since. The show has done well with mixing vibes as diverse as Blade Runner, I Robot and Robocop.
I generally don't stay with TV series long because the writers start messing with the show to play with their ratings or to incorporated current political/social issues into the show, but I've got high hopes for this one.
The Syndicate plot been referenced directly in Ep 2, and obliquely in every ep.
It's looking like the Armenians are the syndicate's backers.

Really? I'll have to re-watch the episodes as I didn't really notice the references. What is the connection with Monday's show? (I got to watch it last night but was tired and almost didn't stay awake for the whole thing).

I caught the first episodes of both. Of the two, I like "Almost Human" more. Sadly, I've only had time to catch one additional episode, but I liked what I saw. "Tomorrow People" seemed like typical CW fare, pretty people, soap opera plots, etc. I usually need to find a character I like in the cast. None of the TP characters appealed to me. I especially disliked the main male character, and his evil uncle. The same actor played Lucifer on "Supernatural" a few seasons back. He has the same 'affable evil' mannerism he used then. I'll pass.
No direct connection to the main "adventure". Just kind of present in the background.
And I am liking this show, too.
