The "Shanghai" of your Traveller Universe

I'm guessing Faust Vegas is run by a large consortium of ethically-challenged-korporatsiya for stability. Individual zaibatsus may be fly-by-night, but the group as a whole maintains a certain dynamic equilibrium.

I'm not telling.

No really.

They have ears everywhere and a LONG reach.

I have said too much already.

Half of Terra is likely to be owned by the Disney Corporation, and turned into various theme parks.

The Moon would be the new Las Vegas, and Ceres would be Shanghai.

Kaskagarin. (1326 Poonch subsector, Glimmerdrift Reaches... C585988-A)

This is a world with a single major continent. It is rife with black markets and other nefarious goings on. Its the sort of place pirates unload their stolen goods as well as a place that legitimate trade is occurring.
There are numerous off continent "platforms" and operations on islands and atolls where all sorts of nefarious and evil gangster / criminal stuff is going on.

Ruled by an "Emir" (the equivalent of a Baron in terms of Traveller nobility, it is a stable, if dangerous den of inequity.

The capitol is Raub Tepe and the starport is in Paka Kurau nearby.

Characters I've used in stories there include:

Roland a drug dealer, who got killed in a deal gone bad...

Boss Siyov, who runs a syndicate and owns several night clubs and the like.

Stiglitz, an arms dealer: A short, pudgy, troll-like, balding man with a pointy nose wearing pince-nez glasses and wearing a cheap suit who runs Sepang Import - Export.

The whole is taken in part from the anime Black Lagoon (which is well worth watching if you haven't)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Lagoon

In an interview with Otaku USA, Rei Hiroe stated that Black Lagoon was inspired by James Ellroy, John Woo, Quentin Tarantino and Stephen King, as well as hearing about actual piracy cases in the East China Sea in the 1990s.

Rei Hiroe was the writer for this anime.

I placed Night City from Cyberpunk 2020 with some Las Vegas sprinkled in on to Daggar's Edge in the Ley sector and that became a Shanghai for my game. Players can get anything if they know the right seller, and have the right price.

Casinos, upscale developed areas, corporate downtown, a lawless south zone, a space port. the works. they've left it for now for some fun on a backwater, but they'll be back to get some patron encounters in, gotta make that cash somehow.

Guilty secret time - I used the space station map from Star Frontiers for years as Regina highport which was a retched hive of scum an villainy if ever there was one.

Unfortunatley it was thrown out years ago, but by then I had Action on Akaisha Outstation so that became Regina highport.

Then I got Alternity's Lighthouse...

I have always had a soft spot for a high port as a Shanghai - now as to what I used as Port Royal...

You can still get Star Frontiers material for your Traveller sessions. I'll PM you. In all the gaming sessions I've ever been in (play and ref), I think the only time I ever required a map of the starport lounge was when my friend and I were first starting out way back in 79 or 80. After that it was pretty much excess baggage to draft up a map of a restaurant-bar because nothing ever really happened there ... mostly.

fantastic theme for a traveller backdrop, there is a large number of source information.

exiles from a fallen nation or government ( the White Russians refugees in the bund)

Drugs, sex, arms, nationalism, communism, colonialism, and its beautiful chaos.
