Hmm In WWII the Italians had a Solothurn 20 mm anti tank rifle. That seems to be a LAG to me or the Boys ATR the Brits used.
The ARL* seems to be a better choice to me in Traveller. Much lower recoil and it could be used in zero G.

The ARL is more potent, but it has such a high signature, as well as obscuring the firer's vision with all that smoke, that it might be kinda risky to use against high-tech forces with rapid response targeting. Shoot one of those at some guys in Battle Dress and likely as not you'll be vaporized after one burst.
'course the guy you hit won't be in too good a shape, either...
The LAG would be almost invisible depending on range in comparison.
