Terran Animal Encounters

I'm looking for Animal Encounter breakdowns for the Solomani, as in I'm looking for stats for the Terran horse, camel, elephant, wolf, cobra, lions, tigers, bears, etc.

Anyone ever stat these out?

Pheonix Games Spacefarers Guide to Alien Monsters lists the Wolf. If I put it in a sort of Book 3 format it would be:

Number: 3d6 Name: Wolf Weight: 100kg Hits 5 / 3 Speed 60

The book while "designed to be used with GDW's Traveller" is generic

It does not list Armor, Wounds & Weapons or the Attack Flee information

Speed is based on an arbrtrary human speed of 50.

I will look for more and better information later.

In the listing previous the hits are in d6

I am assuming CT here Gurps 3rd ed. has an extensive beastry and D&D if used for T20 probably does as well.

These stats were used in an early 80's Aftermath Campaign run with CT as the rule set.

Number Type Name Wgt Hit Wound Weapons Armor A F S
1 to 4 O Black Bear 200 15/9 +5 Teeth & Claws None 9 8 1
1 t0 2 O Grizzly 400 28/16 +6 Teeth & Claws None 9 8 1
1 to 4 C Kodiak 550 30/18 +7 Teeth & Claws None 6 8 1

1 to 4 C Lion 180 17/9 +2 Teeth & Claws None 7 8 2
1 to 4 C Tiger 180 17/9 +2 Teeth & Claws None S S 2
2D6 C Wolf 40 13/6 Teeth None M 9 2

Number Type Name Wgt Hit Wound Weapons Armor F A S
5D6 H Horse 300 13/9 +3 Hooves None 5 3 1
5D6 H Horse 400 26/15 +6 Hooves None 6 9 2
5D6 H Horse 500 29/16 +7 Hooves None 7 9 1

1 H Camel 400 18/9 +4 Teeth & Hooves None 6 9 1

1D6 H Elephant 2000 33/16 +13 Hooves & Horns Jack 6 3 1

There is nothing official about any of the above. There are 3 sizes of horse because they were taken from a western game also run under CT rules.

Which is why when we built our own it shrunk some. Though maybe not enough. On the other hand the 100 kg one got published, ours didn't even
get put in our little newsletter.

A 100 kg wolf! :eek::oo::eek:

They can get big, scary big, but not quite 100kg. Upwards of 50kg though when well fed. Some as much as about 75kg. Down to about 25kg on the lean end. So yeah, 100kg is probably too big, averaging 50kg would be reasonable. Even Dire Wolves weren't much bigger.

As noted in my second post we put it at 40. We also had dire wolves which were larger but as this is all pencil on paper and at home and I am at work I dont know by how much.

As noted in my second post we put it at 40...

Ah, so you did. I did look but missed it, I need to show you the magic of monospaced fonts and the table code (the # sign in the advanced reply menu above the format text box)...

That does look much better. Thank you.

You're welcome. It sometimes takes a little work to make it all line up, the trick I find is to compose any tabled data you have offline in a word processor using a monospaced font and use only spaces (not tabs). If it looks good there then you should be able to copy it and paste it here between the

tags (hit the "#" key in the advanced menu above the reply box) and have it look just like the above.

Don't forget to include badgers, based on it's weight this has to be the most ill tempered and destructive mammal on the North American continent (speaking from direct contact experience).

In Britain here, they are an icon of woodland beauty. I've taken my family a few times to see badgers feeding at dawn and cleaning out their dens.

I doubt, then, you've seen the mayhem an angry wolverine does... as destructive as ferrets, and more dangerous than bears, and just plain fearless.

Documented cases of hunters & trappers waking up to find their rifle worried upon to non-function, and wolverine feces upon their sleeping bag... as the wolverine is leaving.

They are giant ornery ferrets. As smart as the smaller ones people keep as pets, too. Maybe smarter. And mean enough to back down Grizzlies.

A pair of wolverines didn't like the local feral dogs... so they chewed up a pack. The rangers recovered well over 90% of each of the 10 dogs... all medium to large breeds... I wandered upon the scene during cleanup. No piece of any given dog was bigger than a football. and the blood covered more than a 10m radius. Summer 1985 or 1986. Bloody mess.

What about the stats for the angry girlfriend/wife?
Isn't that the most destructive thing to ever be encountered by ANY gaming group?

I'd use: 70kg killer 4/6 +0 by weop A If irritated. F never. S 2
