Talkin' Vilani - chain-gang chant

I'm going to be digging some postholes this week to repair my fence, and what I need is a good old-fashioned hard-labor chant I can mutter to help make the time pass.

And as long as I'm having to do the work, the chant may as well be in Vilani.

Anybody got any suggestions as to themes, phrases, or particular words that seem to flow well?

Nothing long. Just enough to provide my brain something to mull over.

Or maybe I should just chant the Empress Marava song...

Try this on for size. It has a decent rhythm to it (sort of); but at least the sentiment is very Vilani:

"Semikshi menerii ka kurak,
laa ...
Lemdikshir garge ka sheruu.
In lemikshir garge ka kuraak,
laa ...
Lemdikshir likiirge ka ruu."

TRANSLATION:

"We are doing the work, because ...
The great-grandchildren will not do it.
And the great-grandchildren will do the next work, because ...
The great-great-great-grandchildren will not do it."

I had to sacrifice some verbal clarity and fudge some of the grammar a little bit in order to make the syllables play nice with each other; but I don't think I broke any major rules, and good grammar makes for bad literature anyway.


And speaking of hard labor, here are a few work-related sayings popular among the Vilani. I came up with them last month when I was holed up in my apartment trying to keep a late winter 15-below-zero cold snap from driving me insane:

Gaapdakimki suleligim baasa ka sikshi biilem.
"It is obvious to the whole village when a job is well done." (You shouldn't frame the quality of your work by how well you expect to be praised or compensated for it.)

Karunigi lug iire alagek gushin.
"A king's complement is an insult from the day before." (Praise from your boss means he had low expectations of you in the first place.)

Imruki sishikiregim ka sidanegi pisag.
"Words frame the deeds.” (The best work is one that has been thoroughly vetted first. Preferably in committee. To a Vilani, unplanned work is a failure in progress.)

Shekkanki asi binerii ka leshiigarge shii sheklakki binerii ka selugi silundage.
"If you want to know who you are, ask your fourth generation.” (A proper Vilani is always building for his family's future.)

Shiikdabuski karunigim ka dikeshemasere ma shekdiimki khademad simgaanerii re ka senipaar duuna.
"[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]The king has his biographers, for the rest of us there is only family." (If you do great things for your family, they will honor and remember you for it.)[/FONT]
