Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.
You're fine. The bow of a ship is pronounced like taking a bow, and like a dog going bow wow wow, and that rhymes with 'ouch'. You play a violin or wrap a present with a bow pronounced the other way, that sounds like the Boh in Bohemian, which can be beer or a rhapsody.
"bow" has three pronunciations. Two of which are generally dialect variation of each other, so the third will be ignored)
bow, when pronounced like ぼ, is used for weapons (kyu/yumi), looped knots (such as a woman's obi or one's shoestrings) of strings or ribbons or sashes/obi.
"bow" pronounced close to the two kana ばう, refers to the stage bow (and the formal japanese use), the front of a ship, the sound of a dog, and the limb of a tree.
So No mistake on your part, but a homophone issue resulting in someone reading it as "arrow-launching block" instead of "front of ship block" because of accidentally ignored context clues.
Definitely not you, it was all me. Just highlighting how my carbon soup brain misinterpreted the word, and how it manifests some of the complexities of english.
The real question is do you arm your marines with longbows, trusting that your passageways are short enough for a fairly flat trajectory, or do you go with crossbows for ease of point-and-shoot?
The main hull block has a three-layer structure. On the top A deck, fuel tanks, four triple missile turrets (VLS type) and ammunition magazines are located. On the B deck, a cargo hold is located. The C deck is a hangar for a 40 dt slow pinnace. At the rear of the main hull, there is a three-story atrium jump drive section, and a jump drive and control room are installed.
The escort destroyer has two normal drive blocks. The drive block is a three-story atrium space, each with two powerplant/maneuver drive units, a control room, a fuel scoop, a fuel purifier, and an airlock. At the top and bottom of the block are two triple beam laser turrets and fuel tanks.
The Fer-de-lance-class destroyer escort constructed using a type 1,000-ton hull, is fitted with jump-4 capability and 5-G acceleration. The ship has a total length of 81.5m, a weight of 18,251 tons, and a full load of 19,059 tons. The hull is given a streamlined function so that it can be refueled from the gas giant. The hull is equipped with an EM mask and electronic circuit protection. Ten weapons turrets (six triple BLaser and four triple Missile) arm the ship sufficiently to take care of most situations.
The ship has thirteen staterooms and six emergency low berths. The crew consists of thirteen: three command officers, two bridge crews, two engineers, three gunners and three pinnace flight crews. It can carry 10 additional crew members, passengers and marines if necessary. However most navies do not normally want to dedicate 3 crew members to the gig crew, and the ship is often operated by as few as 10 crew. The Model 9/fib computer on board greatly automates the ship's operations, reducing the number of crew members and improving habitability.
The twenty-nine tons cargo hold is used for storing food, supplies and spare parts, as well as maintaining equipment. After Block III, the ship’s vehicle is changed from a 50-ton Modular Cutter to a 40-ton Pinnace, and its hangar is installed at the bottom of the hull. The fuel tank is 448 tons and is equipped with a fuel scoop and fuel purification device. Assuming a 20% discount on mass production, the construction cost is MCr905.
