Starships

Colorado Springs (the city) sits at 1839 meters above sea level, with some parts of the city even higher.
For reference, that's 48% as high as the summit of Fuji-san, to give you a distinctly Nippon point of reference.
That is high enough to affect exercise routines and cooking with boiling water (due to lower air pressure than at sea level).

As far as temperatures go, in November, think in terms of 0-15º C as being "typical" with the possibility of snow and cold at that high elevation above sea level as something you want to be prepared for while you are in the area of Colorado Springs.

So when you are there, be prepared for the static electric shocks and cling from almost everything you touch (LOW humidity is VERY common!) and be careful about exerting yourself in ways that demand lots of oxygen and blood flow in physical activity, especially if you live at a lower elevation most of the year, such as near the sea in low lying plains around the coastlines of Nippon.

Within the Imperium, the single most important duty of the Interstellar Scout Service is performed by its Communications Office. This office maintains the sprawling express boat network which provides communication between the stars for government, industry, commercial enterprises, and private individuals*1).

This system has three basic components: the express boat itself, the express boat tender, and the scout/courier. Each performs a different purpose, and each has its own niche to fill within the whole program.

The express boat (also called an X-boat) is a small, fast ship filled with a pilot compartment, message data banks, and jump drives. The fit is so tight that there is no room even for maneuver drives. Each is capable of jump-4 (four parsecs per week); it jumps, relays its messages to the station on arrival, and then waits to be picked up by a tender, to be refueled and sent on its way with a new load of messages. The local station, meanwhile, accepts messages, encodes them, and transmits them to a tender at the edges of the stellar system*1).

The express boat system would not work without the express boat tender. These tenders, stationed in each system that express boats stop at, serve two purposes. First, they tend express boats, recovering them when they arrive, refuelling them and repairing minor problems, and then sending them on their way. Second, they serve as a relay station between the planetary surface-based message center and the express boat itself. Messages are forwarded to the tender for transmittal to the X-boat just before it leaves for the next star system*1).

Express boat tenders are encountered anywhere that X-boats may be expected. High population, high technology systems will probably have several tenders operating in order to handle the flow of information. Express boat tenders are jump capable, and each may carry up to four X-boats in its ship bay. As a result, the tenders can be found in fringe or off-route systems ferrying extra X-boats to areas that need them. They also undertake recovery missions to pick up damaged X-boats or boats which have misjumped to off-route systems*1).

/////// ALL DECK ///////

The express boat tenders consist of 17 decks. Note the two lift shafts which run the length of the ship. The duplication allows faster access when one shaft is already in use and provides damage control in the event of combat or disaster. In addition, a weightless vertical shaft for emergency use is installed on both sides.

On both sides, there are six mooring cranes and refueling probes, allowing for the mooring of many X-boats at once.

The 3-17 decks contain tankage for the ship and for the refueling of express boats. An external fuel probe allows fast refueling of express boats without taking them into the ship bay or requiring crew to do vacc suits. A fuel lab on Deck 4 monitors fuel quality.

As usual, outstanding work. The cockpit is a nice touch, I don't know that anyone else has done a design for the game with a 90 degree "flip" to access it. (Or any other part of a ship).
