RULES

OK. I am confused by the last post from AllenS.. Why would 2d6 be as good as a 1d20? Statistically their results couldn't be further apart. The distribution of results is linear with d20 (i.e. there is exactly a 5% chance that any particular number will result), where 2d6 gives you a probability curve.

Also - because of T20 coming out I decided to go buy a 3e PHB.. I have gotten through about 75% of the rules, and you know what? I like 'em! Now I am NOT an RPG junkie. I haven't picked up a single one since I was 15 (this is 17 years ago). I last played CT and before that AD&D. AD&D was frickin complicated. 3e is easy to understand.. Even my kids (ages 8&9) understand the concept of rolling a d20 and needing to get a higher result than X to accomplish something.

Anyway, as a rules system, I think the d20 thing is pretty cool.. I can't compare it to much else, but as it stands alone I like it.
