Passenger Seats

Is there a reason why High Guard says small craft passenger seats take up 1.5 tons each? I know the original size of a passenger couch was 0.5 ton. Even this seems high when modern APCs displace less than 2 Traveller tons and carry 8-10 troops.

I was planning to house rule 0.5 ton passenger seats for small craft and 0.25 ton passenger seats for vehicles. What do you think?

Sounds very reasonable to me. I suspect the 1.5 is a typo.

I've long used 0.5 tons as a comfy/fully kitted seat, and allowed double occupancy as cramped/lightly geared seating.

The reason you can't fit 8-10 APC troops in 2tons of passenger couches is because the passenger couches include life support and head/stretch/walking around room to allow comfort for extended periods. Not a lot of that in the typical APC :)
