No rank for citizens?

I'm wondering if there should be a rank system for citizens; i.e.

Customer Service Rep
Lead
Supervisor / Senior Lead
Manager
District Manager
Regional Manager

Or something. Most regular Joes are in some kind of service hierarchy at a store or office.

Just an idea.

Isn't that presumed ? I don't remember anything in the rules, but it seems to me that would be a standard office/store heirarchy.

I remember reading several descriptions of NPCs that they have jobs like Port Cargo Handler, or have I misremembered ?

Nearest thing in Supplement 4 Citizens of the Imperium is the Bureaucrat.

Clerk
Supervisor
Asst. Manager
Manager
Executive
Director

Hope this helps

Well, it's not on the T5 citizen chargen form, though I think it is in CT's COTI or 1001 characters.

No. CT never gave ranks for Citizens, per se. The Bureaucrat career had ranks. Scientists did not. And so on. There was no generic "citizen" career there.

I view Citizens as labor-only. Management are Citizen-Functionaries and they have ranks.

Citizens are trained for a specific job, becoming more skilled at it the more terms they complete. Maybe Apprentice, Journeyman, Master?

Interesting idea, to be sure. Given the breadth of possibilities for ranks in the Job/Hobby table (Unarmed, for instance -- you could do belt color progression for ranks) I think it would be difficult to come up with a table that wouldn't just add more complexity.

It was just an idea. Even the local store down the street has a "clerk" and an "owner" or "spouse of owner" or something. Not a big deal.

Blue Ghost, I always view social rank as maybe the civilian rank pack.

(7-11 store civilians)
Wino outside in back alley Soc 1
On the Dole Soc2
Clerk Soc 3,4
Assistant manager Soc 5
Store manager Soc 6
Owner Soc 7
Adjust up or down depending on revenues of business...

Like a sales staff for a Maybach Car dealership might be Soc 7, and the owner like Soc B

This maps directly to Marc Miller's statement that Soc lvl = credits per month used to live and maintain lifestyle...
