MT Player's Manual free at DTRPG

I purchased the 2300AD pdf. It has the whole boxed set. Twilight 2000 is complete I assume as well, whatever edition you buy from DTRPG. T4 and TNE are playable in one book. MT isn't. Yet the other games above will eventually be released for free as well on DTRPG.

In that light even for free the MT Players' Manual isn't as good a deal. I have the MT boxed set (the actual thing) so it's no big for me. But for a newbie who's never played Traveller before and just trying out the free downloads from DTRPG?

Perhaps I'm overjoyed by the fact...

But, considering my stuff is at the parental units' house... in Indiana!!... I liked being able to DL it to my computer.

Whilst I'm not a great lover of DRM, I'm more than happy to grab the Player's Manual as a freebie. I'll have to go hunting for the Ref's Manual...or possibly wait until next week?

I'm not all that impressed by the quality of the pdf though. It's readable, but just not that sharp. And for some reason both covers are at the front of the book, which seems a bit weird. If I'd bought it, I'd have been disappointed with it.

Front page of drivethrurpg.com about 3/4ths of the way down, center left beside the "click to place an order" speaker graphic. You need to login first with your DTRPG account then click in that area.

Rest of the MT books they have are listed here.

HTH,
Casey

A bit of caution: If you are on dialup, you might want to download at night when nobody is likely to interrupt you. My download got interrupted and following the instructions in the FAQ did not work to resume the download. Still have not heard back from DTRPG support. I was finally able to get it by making a second account. This is not a trick that would work for a pay product.

I think the free PM pdf would be a fine place to get players started. And hey, it's free. But given my experience and the costs, I don't think I will risk buying any of these unless I really get desperate to fill out the two holes in my MT collection (Diaspora and Arrival Vengeance.) I think I'd rather hold out for the CD marc has planned.

Does anyone else think that the PDFs that are available at DTRPG are a little lacking in quality?

The MT Player's Manual is generally a pretty decent scan, but the last set of pages are somewhat out of order (from page 93-103). The sequence is 91, 92, form, advertisement, 102-93 in descending order). Some pages are scanned with clear text, and others have kinda fuzzy text (at least on screen).

The T4 Naval Architect's Manual has a significant number of pages where the pages were obviously scanned at an angle rather than being straight. Certainly usable for what I need (ideas of layouts for ship components), but rather sloppy.

Because of the firewall I sit behind here at work, I can't use anything that requires DRM. :(

Even Adobe support says that they can't help me,
