Would you be interested in purchasing such a CDRom for $40.00?

Yes, I would like this as well .... MegaTraveller on CD-ROM.

Now the big part. I think I can do it too. I own almost all of the MegaTraveller GDW produced. I also have the DGP material as well.

Here's the positives (a.k.a. my resume):
1) I'm a teacher (summer free to work on the project)
2) I'm a computer teacher (I have access to resources to convert the material to PDF and or HTML)
3) I'm interested (that's got to count for something)
4) I have most of the material
5) What I don't know, I'm willing to learn.

Here's my baggage:
1) I've never used OCR software (see #5 above)
2) I'm not a lawyer, and I see all the lawyers just drooling to get their hands on this.
3) I want more than just the GDW stuff (DGP stuff for sure and Seeker Deck Plans would be nice too).

What's this going to cost?
1) Fees for GDW material
2) Fees for DGP material
3) Fees for Seeker material
4) Fees for CD-ROMs ($1 each ??)
5) Time involved (minimum 2 hour per book X how many books!)

Tell me what you think?

Unless Roger Sanger missed a payment to the original DGP guys, you can absolutely forget doing the DGP stuff.

Roger is looking to make some 6-8 figure sum off it, if not from MWM, then from pirates.

Then again, Roger is usually broke , and since he's some bad debts... if you can find and buy his debts, you could SUE him for a settlement in property and obtain the traveller rights "as payment, being a legally assignable asset in the form of intellectual property"... but then again, said rights are only worth whatever MWM is willing to pay.... but hey, it WOULD make a great B-Day present to MWM,,,, or the rights holder could put them out for free under the web policy.... heheheh

But it means having to get those rights from Rodger Sanger...

Okay, as a new member I feel sort of entitled to my cr0.02 worth. Childhood friends and I got into Traveller (which I guess is CT nowadays) with the Mission on Mithril adventure. Loved it then. Immediately gobbled up the MegaTraveller boxed set edition when it was first published. Still own it (minus the box). I still write IMTU stuff for MegaTraveller - with no players around, it's strictly to alleviate boredom.

With apologies to Mr. Miller (and given the Traveller history of ownership, a compliment), I was never interested in any other versions. Seen 'em. Tossed 'em back.

Being a kid at the time, I never seemed to have enough shuniah to be able to buy supplements...

So my vote for an MT CD is an emphatic yes. Certainly beats trying to collate information from the web.

As for format, PDF is fine with me. Let me amend that somewhat... HTML would be fine, as long as all of the canon rules held by MWM are included.

Price? For everything all bundled together, I wouldn't sneeze at $40 or even $50. Keep it under $100 and I'll only cough.

I dont care about the cost, I'll just buy it!

Go to page '2' on this topic to see the list of included material.

To anser your question, no. Only material published by GDW is included. No material by DGP would be, or even can be, included. So items like the alien books, Starship Operator's Manual, and World Builders Handbook would NOT be included.
