Kickstarter Books? Are they still shipping?

Just as I was starting to lose faith I got the notification that it is shipping last night while I slept! Now the dispair is shifting to joyous anticipation.

I paid $200 for the Ebay copy with CD and boxed Dice set.

I paid $100 for the KS copy with Jump Drive, 4 more Dice and 2 Coins.

I see T5 for sale at about $60 in web stores.

I still think i got a dealas currently there are no Dice Sets, Jump Drives or Coins out there.

I feel such a fool now. This would have been the cheapest option for me and I would have had it delivered by Monday morning.
Disgusted!!

Marc dumped on all of us. People can say what they want about what a wonderful guy he is, but, I go with what a person does.

Those who funded (And Marc didn't fund this, Traveller fans did!) this effort should certainly have received their products before they appear on the open market.

What good did priority mail do if the product took two months to ship?

Then you can pick it up on ebay when people dump their copies after seeing what a mess it is. Now it is online shops. Keep waiting though, you might get it one day.

Unless Marc changed his stated policy (very unlikely), any copies that you see for sale are used books that were shipped to kickstarters and resold. Clearly that is beyond anyone's control.

Marc has stated that the book will not be offered to retail stores before all of the kickstarter books have been shipped. I see no reason to believe anything else is the case.

One book for sale on one retail site sounds like someone selling their kickstarter copy. (IMHO)

There are more than 1 copy on NKG. I ordered one yesterday and there are more in stock. It's also available in the UK from IGUK.

This thing is being distributed, of that I am sure.

I will know next week when I receive my brand new copy, unsigned, from NKG.

I saw the IGUK (1 copy in stock).
I was not aware of NKG having multiple copies for sale.

It looks like my information may be out of date.
(Not a complete surprise since I follow this only casually, intending to pick up a CD eventually ... but in no particular hurry at this point.)

I withdraw my 2 cents. ;)

Also, to quote a KS backer:

"Alliance Game Distributors has the book (stock # FFE0300) listed as “in-stock” in each of their 4 distribution centers. So the book has made it to a mainstream distributor."

DonM, your Private Message box is full, so I have to ask here; could you please let the folks in this thread know what Marc has to say? You're the closest contact we have to him, given people seem to be seeing a difference between email response and postal follow-through.

Esdevium Games, in their own words "Europe's leading distributor of hobby products including role-playing games, collectable card games, historical & family board games, magazines, novels and accessories", have included T5 in their latest weekly PDF that goes to retailers.

That's international distribution, not disgruntled Travellers trying to claw back a few bucks...

I'm surprised at the alleged 'in-stock', with some distributors. The only way it could have been a possibility was for some backers(probably the stores) to order several additional copies during the KS. Anyone who purchases more than about 3 copies at one time is without doubt going to be selling some, unless they wanted a copy for each room of the house and one behind the toilet etc.

Here in Aus, there is a shop called Military Simulations that is stocking the book, however it's only taking 'pre-orders' at this stage.

I'm sure the remaining backers who havn't received there books yet, will shortly. Remember there was a brief pause for a holiday break, so if your book shipped after that, it will equal a slight delay.

I'm sure a lot of stores are doing a similar pre-order system, but I can tell you that my copy is en route from NKG and I am tracking it's progress. They have more copies in stock. Maybe they did order multiple copies after their initial KS pledge. If this is true then my copy should arrive next week with a message, handwritten by Marc to the original KS backer.

Rrrrrriiiigghht. That's why FRP Games, Esdevium and Noble Knight have multiple copies in stock. That's why a huge game retailer like Discount Games Inc can sell the book new on eBay for $52.50. That's why the distributor Alliance has been shipping to game stores for weeks, and how people are buying it in game stores.

Face it: Marc allowed it to go to distributors before he finished shipping out the Kickstarter books, and before those who pre-ordered on the FFE site got theirs. It's been going on for a month now, and IMO was a super cruddy way to treat people who backed his project a year ago. It wasn't, as we were told, a one time oversight (that happened twice, ha).

I don't know why some here find it so difficult to acknowledge that this was happening when all the signs have been there for weeks. People make mistakes, but it's easier to swallow when they admit it.

The one I got on Ebay says, "Thank You For Your Support" or something along those lines.

I find my feelings have changed now that I have my KS Book as I'm sure the "Haves" will promote patience while the "Have'nots" are lamenting their loss.

That said I am SO glad I made that Ebay purchase as I don't see any more up there with CD and Dice.

And please forgive me for that spur purchase, but the KS Blog about not being guarenteed a product scared me.

By all means, secure your copy from anywhere you can and then give Marc an email like I did and ask him for a status on your KS.

My KS copy showed up yesterday. Marc is still plugging away at getting them all out...

Individually signing each copy might have been a bad idea as far as speedy delivery is concerned. :)

I don't want people to be sad so:

BOTH these Sellers are Awesome! I have used them both before for many items. ( Check their feedback, I am Thlaylie there as well :) )

HURRY!!

The first seller is NKG and I ordered my copy from them yesterday. It is currently en route to me. I can't speak highly enough of them. I ordered a RAFM minature from them a few months ago which went missing en route. They offered a refund before it finally showed up. Every other time I have ordered from them I have received my package in less than a week (Wisconsin to Ireland).

I think I have dealt with the 2nd seller, discount games but I'm not sure. Either way I have never had a problem on eBay so they must have been good.

NKG is VERY fast, but they are also like 20 miles away from me LOL.

Discount Games is slower, but a real nice Seller as well and faster than most.

The 'only' way? Really...?

Let's face it, it takes a hell of a lot less time to box up 10 copies of the book and dispatch them to a distributor than it would to take those same 10 copies and marry them up against 10 individual Kickstarters with all the swag calculated, customised (in the case of TAS cards and patents of nobility) checked and packed.

I'm not saying it's good, bad or shaboinghan, but it's hardly inconceivable...
