Is eating K'kree meat considered uncool or very tasty?

Well, there are ways of making it less than obvious...

Seriously, there is some group of nuts out there, that has a "Sophant and Lunch Club" or some such.

Hiver rings on pizza, Vegan steaks, pickled Vargr feet, fillet of Aslan.

Tasty food, tasteless jokes.

I'll leave vie the airlock now.

What happens on Vega5 stays on Vega5.

Seriously, departure is forbidden.
Vega5, Baby!

Instead of the Rat Pack, you have the Suerrat Pack.

That would be interesting as a Space Rumor or a Lost Civilization.

Everybody wants to go there, but they can't find anyone to recommend the best places to go when you get there.

The meat is weird and green, stinks like sour ... something. Have a bite!

Alien plants and animals are unlikely to be edible, if not downright poisonous.

Or like on Vland, will need to be significantly "prepped" by some process to break down the proteins and/or remove the toxins and make them edible to the Human metabolism.

Most of these situations are wildly contrived to stir people up and be shocking.
Maybe.
Probably.
Definitely.

1. Plot Device.
2. Another Plot Device.
3. Just read the CotI for starters. BBQ K'kree steaks, K'kree taco's, K'kree-ka-bobs, Deli sliced K'kree, K'kree chili, K'kree stew, K'kree burgers, Hickory smoked K'kree, K'kree meatloaf, K'kree and fried rice, K'kree spam, corned K'kree, and so on.
4. More Plot Devices.
5. Even More Plot Devices.

Honesty, these kind of Plot Devices rarely appear in fiction, at least anything that I've read over the years, and it's never a good feeling when it does. But there's lots of stuff used as Plot Devices that make the reader uncomfortable.
