I know we already have a "how old are we" thread, but I'm curious about something a little more specific: I'd like to get a grip on the age breakdown of fans who like different versions of the game. This would hopefully be more useful in determining which demographic is the main market for each game.

So I'm going to ask three questions here in separate posts (since I can't seem to persuade it to work with multiple questions). I'd like people to answer the question most relevant to them.

The question in this poll is for fans of GURPS Traveller. If you're a fan of CT or T20, please answer one of the other questions in the separate posts.

(if you got into it via any other version and use that as your system of choice today, then please don't answer this poll - I'm just interested in those three systems.
)

Note that I'm not asking when you bought into the game - just which one you bought into and which one you use.

[*] If you only got into Traveller via GURPS (ie who have never played or bought a previous version of the game) and use that as your system of choice today, please answer the question below.

I would put myself down as a fan of the GT background books, but not the game system.

I have all of the main GT books, but I would not play or referee a GT game unless there was no other option since I am not a big fan of the GURPS character generation or general game mechanics.

I do use First In, Far Trader, Starports, Starships, and ,if I ever get the chance, I'm going to use the Sword Worlds book.

And I am really looking forward to Interstellar Wars.

So far only two people have voted here. I take it this means that most GT fans are either on JTAS or on the SJG forums, rather than here?

Not necessarily, just the way you phrased the question is for people who started with GT.

The implication is that most people actually got into Traveller with a different edition of the game.

As I said, the GT suff is excellent IMHO, I just don't like the system ;)

Malenfant,

You prequalifier is pretty strict. It asks one to vote only iff a) you got into Traveller via GT and b) GT is your prefered Traveller system.

Personally, I use the GT material as a great resource and would have no problem running Traveller with GT (after a minor TL fix). However, I don't know that it is my "prefered system".

So...I started with TNE because (at the time) it was easier to get my hands on than MT. I now play using GT set in Gateway using T20's setting timeframe. I was willing to use any of the systems (CT, MT, TNE, T4, GT, T20) to get my group to actually try traveller (and in fact like and use pieces from here there as many of us do).

Which question should I be answering?

I suppose, given the discussion in the other two threads related to this one, that the answer is that I should not vote since I did not start with CT,T20 or GT.

Yes
. I'll post updated results on the threads every month or so, til people stop answering. So far (based on somewhat limited statistics) from the responses to the other polls it looks like the people starting with CT and those starting with T20 are in similar age brackets - between 36 and 45 years old.
