As one of the many, many old hands that grew up with the LBBs, the ONE thing I liked was that I had the whole system by book 6, really. When I convinced some young Vampire jockey to trade in his Cr for T4, all I could say was " Well, the rest is coming. Yeah, no Gauss guns, no Powered Battle dress..."
All the things that we knew SHOULD be ther, were not. And we had to wait.
I knew that is how I did it -- waiting for each new book. But, I don't know if that'll work now that the 'cat is out of the bag' some twenty years ago. I can't wait for things I know are there in Traveller to be released again so I can play them in the new format.
I think that was a problem with the old hands coming on to each new system (especially T4). It was very hard not to say: "Kids, let me break out the LBBs. It might not be new fangled, but it's got what you want already published. And the new stuff, we can adapt in."
Something to think about on those week long jumps....

(Oh, and when you dump the d6s, you just aren't playing Traveller....maybe the Imperium, but not Traveller...)
