First Night Report! SUCCESS!

I ran my new group through Act I of "Cold Fuzion" from the Gateway sourcebook. I'd just like to say that it was a success. The whole group enjoyed the night and some of the scenes were very well recieved (not going to spoil anything in it). I applaud the authors for building adventures that have a very cinematic feel and a lot of open-endedness in the way that the players could stray yet I could keep them on track. The motivations of the NPCs were well done and helped me to presenta more realistic world rather than a D&D in space (one of the players only played DnD, so it was very good for him).

Only downside: All the rolls for bulk cargoes. What the hell... they are going to leave and I'm rolling like 20 minutes to get the answer. So I decided to write an Excel spreadsheet to to it automatically.

Keep up the good work KJD and HG.

Oh, I suggest if you are running a game to either have a night that everyone does char-gen at the same time, or do it ahead of time. It takes a good long while, with lots of page flipping.

Or use pregenerated characters. Or make sure everyone has a copy of the book. One of the all time problems with Traveller is the amount of time it takes new players to roll their characters. I have found a one off adventure, to whet their appetites then give them a chance to roll characters after that one off works better.
