EXPLOSIONS ACROSS LONDON

Well I am for once thankful for the American tourists in the queue for a train ticket at 7.50am this morning asking every bloody question under the sun because as a result I miss one of the trains that got hit.

I am also thankful because the train meant that I got trapped in a suburban town (I was going there for a 1 hr appointment) and I could not return to work until 4pm - so I got to have half a day off and see Batman Begins (and jolly good it was too)

Of course i'm outraged that London, my London was attacked by vermin but we knew it was coming and it was nowhere near the scale that the poor New Yorkers on 9/11 had to face. I am, of course, sorrowful for the 40+ who have died.

When I finally got back to the City of London all the bankers (who had left work early in the hope of getting home before the chaos of rush hour began) were saying 'Sh**, look at all the people on the street, lets go to the pub'. Consequently a good few pints of Young's Special were quaffed at the Lamb in Leadenhall Market - and very good they were too. I, of course, wanted London Pride, but it wasn't a Fuller's pub, so the old Pride was not available!

Love to you all.

Elliot

I hope no CotI members were harmed. All of my sympathies to the families of those who died.

Hopefully, all terrorists will be destroyed.

I'm more realistic than that. In one form or another, terrorists have always plagued human society, and they will continue to plague it in the future.

You can never "destroy" terrorism or "win the war on terror". The best you can do is neutralise individual groups, and otherwise carry on living life as you always have done and don't let the bastards get you down.

Glad to hear everyone so far ok. Keep us updated our prayers and thoughts are with all you and those close to you.

I agree!

The terroists win when we let them intimidate us into change.

Carry on with life while doing your best to stay safe is the policy that will overcome.

I dont know what to say
But the news did say they had to unexploded bombs which hopefully will help lead to the Terrorists

Not yet. It's believed there were at least two people involved, and no evidence they were suicide bombers, so it's just a case of hunting for clues. Hopefully they'll appear on CCTV.

The people of London and the Underground survived the Blitz, and automobile. A few nutcases and a chemistry set are not going to stop it.
London is second favorite big city. I went to college in Canterbury for a term and took the train into the City every chance I had.

Tea. What a civilized custom. Thanks for the link David, made my day it has
Not that I don't check out Dork Tower now and then, but it's been a while.

Some appropriate quotes:

"A country grows in history not only because of the heroism of its troops on the field of battle, it grows also when it turns to justice and to right for the conservation of its interests."
- Aristide Briand

"A strong nation, like a strong person, can afford to be gentle, firm, thoughtful, and restrained. It can afford to extend a helping hand to others. It's a weak nation, like a weak person, that must behave with bluster and boasting and rashness and other signs of insecurity."
- Jimmy Carter

"The maxim of the British people is Business As Usual."
- Winston Churchill
