Strephon and Norris appear to have respected each other greatly. But that was it.

I tend to doubt Strephon was much of a playboy. He seemed to take his responsibility pretty seriously. It has also been strongly implied (if not outright stated) that he loved his wife and daughter. (And son, in the OTU.)

As for Dulinor, both he and Strephon considered each other friends. At least until a bullet changed Strephon's mind (however briefly). (In the OTU. It is still undefined who knew what when in the GTU.)

We know that he had one lifelong partner with his Senshenal(sp) but who knows how many flings he had along the way.

As to Stephon, whilst, he did take responsiblity very seriously...the Birthday plot makes me think indeed he was something of a playboy or at least, he lived a carefree lifestyle. Waking up one morning and finding out that you are dead and shot by one of your closest compatriots can make you more serious combined with a Lucantic on the throne in your stead.

OK I can accept that Dulinor and Stephon were monogamous and straight, barely. The nobility I am used to reading about always seemed to have a more ummm . . .loose idea of acceptable bedroom behavior. It is quite possible that they were as forthright as the Ministry of Information makes them out to be. It is conceivable for men who inherit positions of enormous power, wealth and prestige to behave in a forthright manner. It just makes them very notable exceptions.

IMTU they will have just been very discreet.

I agree with your historical observation, and assuming they had been very discreet makes perfect sense. (Especially in GT, where Strephon likes to send Iolanthe out and about. I wonder who helps keep the home fires burning? )

However, it would appear that canon assumes Strephon's fidelity. He is supposed to be a "noble" figure (noble in character, I mean) and, while many "noble" figures have screwed around, it would appear the intention is that Strephon did not.

Likewise for Norris. (I assume you meant Norris when you said Dulinor.) Norris is a little different, however, as his significant other was not a wife, and his child was a clone of him. However, since his public appeared to want him to fool around (or at least get in circulation) and there were not even any hints of that, it would appear Norris was also intended to be circumspect in his actions, too.

Yes, that would make them notable exceptions to the norm. But, since that is how they were intended to be portrayed (at least as time went on), that actually fits with the characters.

Getting back to your main point, I agree.
