nice posters

Nice Posters but not certain I'd want these on the top of my list.

Ok here are mine.
"Firefly - The Rebellion" - they created the reavers that will upset a few settlements and major worlds
"Star Wars Episode 0 Founding of a Republic" - Ok this crazy galaxy got together somehow... probably a trilogy right there.
"Aliens - the Predator Wars" - When Ripley finds them we're not seeing any great population of Predators... seems to me the Aliens kicked some Predator Butt.

Anyone else have any?

Cool Posters!

How about:

'Still Lost In Space' - and getting older every day.

'Star Trek II - the Wrath of Continuity' - well, just what are they going to call the sequel to the movie that comes out in a few weeks? The Return of Star Trek?

'X-Men IV' - this time it's really the last stand. (Not like last time...)

'Blade Walker' - Harrison Ford leaves his retirement home to battle one last Replicant.

'Indiana Jones and the Quest for the Fountain of Youth' - Harrison Ford leaves his retirement home to...

'Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great GrandChildren of Dune'

'Memorial Day' - for those that wondered what happened after Independence Day

But the one movie I'd like to see most is:

Traveller - The Motion Picture

That'd be kinda hard to do, wouldn't it? Unless it was a prequel.

One of us is misremembering the ending :) (could be me, it's been several years and little grey cells lost) As I recall it Lowell saved some of his domes (the other two(?) ships jettisoned all theirs and returned to Earth) while a couple of the little droids kept tending the remaining domes. Perfect setup for a return after a long orbit.

EDIT: Had to have a quick look at the plot synopsis, my memory was fogged :( Only one dome gets away in the end. So not the return of the ship, but of one dome. Probably not much of sequel in that :) (still, I always figured it could have done with one, though it would have probably ruined a perfect complete story). I've got it all conflated with the original script I think. I keep thinking the aliens were in the movie too.

It'd still be a hard one to plot though, at least one that did justice to the original and kept the spirit.

They've actually done something brilliant in the way of continuity.

Spoiler:
The new movie takes place in an alternate timeline. The young Kirk we're about to see is not necessarily the same one that we all know and love. The old Spock in the show is from the original timeline. The young Spock is his alternate self.

I think that's brilliant for a reboot. And, it's the perfect universe for that type of thing.

EDIT: Know what, never mind. Forgive the tone if you can and skip the rest. I'm not going to let it bother me anymore :)

How in the world can you say that's brilliant in the way of continuity? Really, I want to know. How is it even continuity. It's discontinuity if anything. It's just lame imo. Make that Lame. And a blatant rip-off predicated on the name. I could have respected it IF they'd had the guts and honesty (Hah! In Hollywood?!) to just come out and say "Hey, let's reboot, reinvent, start new!" Instead they create this elaborate backstory hoax to try to keep the fans. Meh, whatever.

No, all the "help" everyone is offering as inducement to give this a chance is just turning me off all the more. Star Trek is dead. Dead to me at least. RIP ST. It's been dead for a while but I think it's finally time to drive a stake through it's heart.

I'm not big on sequels. Or on movies that are nothing more than overblown TV episodes.

Here are some movies I would like to see, if the material were handled with the same respect as the first two Narnia movies and first two Harry Potter movies:

Alan Dean Foster's Midworld
E.C. Tubb's The Winds of Gath
H. Beam Piper's Uller Uprising
Ursula LeGuin's The Word for World is Forest
Jack Vance's The Grey Prince
Niven and Pournelle's Footfall

On Niven and Pournelle (and Michael Flynn) I think Fallen Angels could also be an even better movie than it is a book. And it would give them a chance to correct their error in the book about the propellants for the Titan II. ;)

Ringworld by Larry Niven It would have to be epic with puppeteers and Kzinti oh my.I read there was a failed attempt that could not get the budget.

Adventures in Known space where they cherry pick a few sorts by Niven and make a creepshow kind of flic.

I love Fredrick Pohl's work but I think it would be a poor candidate for the screen hard to pull off.

Rendezvous with Rama would work but it would be like other Clarke adaptations to the big screen. Slow paced with a big finish.

Poul Anderson's Star Prince Charlie or Question and answer would be fresh and not so difficult to pull off.

If you go Anderson you can always have "Flandry, Domenik Flandry" and a bunch of friendly East India Subsector Merchants. Granted, they (like Pournelles CoDo) would work better as a TV Series

I second "Footfall" and "Fallen Angels".

In another thread around here I posted what Niven and Pournelle had to say about Ringworld and the movie licensing. Long story short, years ago Niven sold the rights to the film, evidently for a pittance, and the guy who bought them has been sitting on them for years. He knows the value of what he has, and from what they were saying, he's not easy to work with. So, no Ringworld movie, etc.

Well thanks for the heads up on Ringworld. I would like to see a Forbidden Planet prequel. The landing of the Belephron the loss of the crew how Dr. Morbius and his daughter survived and built Robbie.
