Colonization

As we don’t have, yet, an Interstellar Wars area on these forums (although, I guess that GT could be modified for that purpose)... I was wondering if there would have been significant or slight alternation of the human genome of possible colonists by the Second Imperium to settle on many worlds that needed tailoring to human life, as terraforming being too expensive to undertake on the vast scale. Did the early 3I, follow this practice? If not, did it simply follow technological fixes, i.e. filter masks, inoculations, modular habitats, etc

If they did follow the practice of modifying the genome, it could serve as the basis for the sovereignty of the world within the Imperium. Furthermore, the slight differentiation between different cultures of different planets which nobody could tell unless an analysis is done on a genetic level with mannerisms and behaviours being the prime determinant.

Naturally, in some cases, courtesy of the Ancients, biomodification need not be as intrusive as pre-selection of colonists and altering their DNA, it would just come about through the natural interbreeding with the locals.

Over the course of the Long Night, one could see almost a Brave New World type scenario emerging. And, the dawning of the 3I providing an escape valve for those that might have died off on their homeworld and those who would seek to become citizens of the Imperium rather than simply of their own local world.

The late 3I followed this practice too.

Nexine is an underpopulated water world currently being used by the Ministry of Conservation for reseeding efforts using biologically altered humans.
