Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.
I felt bad for it, though, when it was kicked. It reacted like a kicked dog or horse in terms of how it moved. I think that's why this is spooky.
From my readings in AI and robotics, though, when they use learning algorithms for locomotion, eventually the robots move very similar to live organics.
Cool! And taxpayer dollars going into it. That suggests we might be seeing "real" robots soon. (By "real" I'm thinking Rosie in the Jetsons or AyBee in Travellers' Digest).
By "real", I'm thinking more like the Gigolo series from AI....
Seriously, though - that is very spookily realistic. The big problem I see is that it doesn't have the last little turn where an ankle would be - that would make a big difference to some of the maneuvers it was trying.
