Any news from Hunter?

Not necessarily...
Hunter may already have renewed (in which case, around the 15th, it will propagate again with a new date), and the ISP might not pull it even tho it expired. (Most give a grace of about a month...)

Also, the data might not be correct.

I hope this board stays around, I mean its better organized then the Mongoose one, you think Mongoose would organize theirs a little better.

You'd think that Hunter would be a bit more interested in the state of his company to get on any computer with internet access (e.g. library, neighbors', family member's, etc) and get in touch with his creditors (e.g. MJD) and business associates (e.g. Colin).

This doesn't bode well.

Oh man - and I just renewed my nobility (with an upgrade to Marquis) and it hasn't shown up. As a matter of fact, I'm now titleless.... :nonono:

Or ask a family member etc to go thru every week and answer "Dads still in hospital" or whatever unless its a simple / obvious answer.

My 12 year old son coped with that task well enough a couple of years ago

That's... bizarre. How did you pay? I ask because I went to pay with my Credit Card and the form popped up a 404 page not found when I tried it. Then the next day I was going to try the PayPal link instead and lo and behold I'd been renewed. I checked my CC and sure enough the payment went through. Unless I was on auto renewal (but it doesn't show it as such).

And another fellow Mooter just paid via PayPal with no problems.

Have you checked you CC statement or PayPal to see if you were actually billed?

Hope you get it all sorted out.

EDIT - Ah, already asked, answered, and solution posted in another thread I see. Never mind :D

I also renewed via paypal.

You can pay with CC via paypal, but paypal needs to be set up FIRST.

I just did an instant transfer from my Bank Account.

If this is directed to my remark above what I'm talking about was the choice of two options on the renewal. PayPal or CC via a secure checkout.

After filling in the CC info and hitting the order button for that choice I got a 404 notice for the wwws.orderitnow.com... page. So it seemed to me that it wasn't processed. However, since a charge did go through something worked somewhere.

Anyway, it's not encouraging or confidence inspiring.

I've just renewed via Paypal. I notice it was for a recurring subscription ... was the old one not recurring? Maybe I've now got two ... :oo:

Kidding and Moot aside, is there a way for you tech people to find out with certainty when the domain expires? Maybe by getting in touch with this Bruce dude, the "man behind the curtain"?

What does one actually get for a Moot subscription though? If there's really nobody in charge anymore and no new material being added then isn't that just throwing money away?

And if the domain expires soon then maybe its better to just let it die. It's Hunter's responsibility to pay for and maintain the site, not the fans' - and there's other places for us to go and talk about Traveller (the obvious place being the Mongoose boards).

Or maybe someone else can pony up some money and set up an independent traveller forums server and a domain name of their own and everyone can migrate over there instead and just let QLI die. Hell, if you do that then maybe you should just buy up the travellerrpg.com domain when it expires anyway...

Moot membership (at any level) allows more PM's in the mailbox, and access to the moot subs.

And allows a nifty title.

Most will never miss it.

If you change your moot membership level, you need to go to the user control panel and change your primary group... so Grufty IS a marquis, but needs to set his primary group from knight to marquis for it to show up in his headers.

WOW, how many years has that question been hanging around !

A lot has to change and if not then yep times up and stop screwing people over, I guess this will be taken out of context but sometimes things are needed to be said.

It comes down to Hunter is needed back and start making moves that will get CotI/QLI back up and running other wise let it die.

I would ask the following questions as a QLI customer.

Why has Hunter disappeared once again? Personal circumstances can and do pop up but disappearing and leaving problems to escalate (be it problems with ordering or recieving product, Moot subscriptions and access or a host of other issues) has become a far too regular occurrence over the last couple of years. It takes little more than a few minutes to make a post to the board and to give an update or to inform customers of what is going on. This is the minimum commitment I would expect an owner to make in regards to his business. If the owner seems to be willing to allow his company to "go to the dogs" in such a fashion I have absolutely no confidence in that company. I won't spend my money on something I believe to be a risk (and after reading the complaints on this board - thats what I believe it to be... a risk). Yes previous issues have been resolved but when I purchase something I like to do so with the confidence that if an issue does arise it will not take months of futile chasing and "where is Hunter?" e-mails that none can respond to.

Why no contact with those who are/where working on QLI's only published product? Due to lack of communication and it appears commitment on Hunters part 2320AD is now without an Editor, Writer or Artists. The most prolific QLI author appears to be chasing for unpaid loyalities and has also encountered a distinct lack of communication... as a customer I get worried when I read such posts, you know the whole confidence thing. Why no attempt to address the problems by Hunter and to reassure his customers that QLI is not "going down the pan"?

On another note... the whole domain issue. It appears that the CotI domain licence will expire soon but no word from on high as to if it will be renewed. As the domain holder Hunter must know this and people have started to question what is happening but suprise, suprise no answer has been forthcoming with regards to domain renewal. The reason I bring this up is that it appears that Moot subscriptions are still being taken (and possibly auto renewed) which means people may be paying for something that may not even be around in a months time... once again it does my confidence no good in QLI that such an issue has not been addressed. I'm not risking my cash on a Moot subscription that currently has minimal benefits at best and may not be around very soon.

Due to the above issues QLI has missed out on me opening my wallet on the following...

Any non 2320AD material
Any 2320AD material
Moot Subscription

a pretty sizable amount of cash.

Now the above may be harsh - is it a personal attack on Hunter? No, it is what I, as a QLI customer, see as legitimate concerns which I would like to see addressed. I have been a member of these boards since 2003 and have purchased a number of QLI products in the past but my trust in QLI is now non existent.

Questions need answering otherwise as far as QLI goes my wallet will stay closed and I will take my business elsewhere.
