Andrew Moffatt-Vallance:

I've downloaded High Guard Shipyard version 1.13, but this version still has the T20 design tab disabled.

When and where is Version 1.14 (With the T20 designs enabled) available?

Thank you for your time.

There's an error in the current 1.14 (T20 Power plants are not being correctly calculated). However, http://usa.spis.co.nz/andrew/HgsBeta.zip should connect to the latest 1.14 beta

BTW, you need to pass it the command parameter "T20" to enable the T20 design features.</font>[/QUOTE]

Assuming a windows environment. In the Start -> Programs-> accessories, run the thing called "Command prompt". Navigate to the directory you installed the program in (type "Driveletter:" to change drives, "cd .." to go to the parent directory, "dir -d" to list the directories and "cd Directoryname" to change the directory. Sometimes you may have to put names in quotes)

Once there you type the name of the program you want to run, a space and then the flag you want to set. (ie "hgs d20")

Alternatively, if you have a shortcut (either in the start menu or whatever) rightclick and go to properties and add the name of the flag to the "target" - with a space between them.

I know that I am patronising the vast bulk of the audience, but there is a portion who really don't know this stuff, who have never typed at a dos prompt. I also know that there is a portion of those who will go through the above instructions and it won;t work - write more if you need more info

I have been tring to get the version of HG1.14 to work with the T20 system , and havent been able to get it to jump, Any further advice??

Thanks for a neat piece of software.

Could you give a little more info. Is HGS failing to run at all, or just can't get the rules selection radio group to enable?

Not there yet, nor are the tech 16+ powerplants or any error trapping for the avionics. And I repeat again, there is an unresolved error in the EP calculations, I would *strongly* advise against using it to create T20 ships.

It works for me - Assuming that I "push" it gently in the way I want it to go.

Some subtle changes noticed so far:
I can;t find anyhting in the rules saying that streamlining costs 20% of the tonnage. This would be a fairly significant change.

In fact, I'll post that as a question in the d20 section.

When i try to change the Target for the program Executable it sez unable to find Target??

its just becoming frustrating...

That's a GURPS idiocy.

I thought CT had a 20% streamlining cost.

Made sense to me - to streamline a craft, you end up with lots of "unusable" space arround the components that are otherwise fairly "boxy"

I lost my LBB about 20 years ago - I didn't like the "large book" format of the re-prints, I'm still hoping to get a LBB again.

Does HGS start? If the problem is just that the design rules selector won't enable I can fix it easily, but if its something else not so simple.

CT (Book 2) has a +20% to the hull *cost* (ie in MCr) for streamlining. High Guard has variable cost differences for streamlining (depending on the configuration between +20% and -20%). However, neither has a *volume* penalty for streamlining.

GT has -20% to usuable hull *volume* for streamlining, however, I also think you find this in FFS (both TNE and T4 versions).

When you say "I had the same thing"

What was the observed behaviour did :-
a) The Selector for d20 stay disabled so you couldn't do anything with it or
b) The program either wouldnt start or stopped loading when you used the t20 parameter?

- Yes I work in support. Remember you aren't a customer, you are a beta tester.
- Keep in mind that this app has been developed by someone for the shear joy of it. If you would like a better one, write a better one. (But get hunter to approve it before you give it away/sell it)
