Yatrs?

Yet Another Traveller Ruleset? What do we need this for?

The RPG market is shrinking anyway. (Losing out to video games and MMORPG.) It is already virtually impossible to put together a game, and I live in a major university town. Fragmenting the Traveller base more makes no sense to me.

So what is the big deal? What makes this ruleset any different from all the previous rulesets?

Open License...
that means you can try to sell your house-rules tweaked variant. And you might even be able to call it traveller.

Well I guess I will just ignore this and continue on with T20 next time I put a Traveller campaign together. I don't need more rules, in all fairness I don't even need more setting material, though I am still looking for the TGP, part 3 of the Golden Age Epic Adventure Trilogy, some more T20 993 era EA's and more T20 TA's. (I still, for almost 2 years now) have 2 issues in my current TA/EA sub and the only product I don't have is a TNE one.

The game will hopefully get on shelves again, so that we might actually get some new players.
T20 was on the shelves. As is/was GT. Though anyplace I saw it on the shelves it was buried, in the back away from the main line of traffic. On the bottom shelf, etc. For great product placement you have to have something that sells. To get something that sells you have to appeal to more than just the old fans. And one problem Traveller suffers from is the sheer number of rule sets.

I don't see how this is any different from either GT or T20 in that respect.

I have seen a lot more Mongoose books on shelves other than rpg stores than Gurps or T20. So I suspect it will get more exposure. If nothing else, it's being talked about a lot on other rpg sites that generally never mention Traveller. So odds are at least a few new people will pick it up just to give it a once-over. Then, they'll be hooked :).

Eh, bad comparision. T20 was selling well on game store and bookstore shelves. We've sold well more than just a few thousand copies. What hurt T20 was it falling out of print, which will be changing.

I found my copy of T20 in Walden Books. (Though I first saw it at a Barnes and Nobles.) I never saw it anywhere but in the back on a lower shelf in a game store. (Three different game stores in this area.)
