Why isn´t there a CT Vehicle design sequence based on Book 8?`

Clearly, someone else must have had that idea before me. I tried it yesterday, and it worked quite nicely.

before I engage further I´d like to make sure nobody has done it already. Or has shown the wrongness of that thought.

Are there problems with that?

No, not really, since you have put the cart before the horse.

Bk 8 is derived from Striker, which is the CT Miniatures system.

Are there problems with that?

Mostly that Bk8 is essentially a subset of striker.

Take a look at striker, or at MegaTraveller (specifically the Ref's manual).

Once you get past a decent tank, it's a bit too fiddly, it gets rather slow, and you'd just be reinventing either MT or Striker.

Forgive me for asking the obvious, but isn't book 8 Robots? having read that and being fairly familiar with it, wouldn't you be hard pressed to build a tank with the robot books? I've built Robots like tanks, (more like fridges and washing machines actually, but that is beside the point), but an actual tank?

I must be missing something here.

I´ll elaborate:

Robots is a Book 2 like design sequence. It has values for propulsion, power weight and the likes for vehicles scale stuff.

CT vehicles are pretty basic in regards of their stats/specs.

@Aramis: Thanks for the heads up! I always thought Striker was "Chadwickian" whereas Book 8 and MT were "DGPian". So all is based on "Chadwickian" Striker?

Hmmm... I've got to admit I'm not that much of a gearhead, or ever wanted a vehicle that much that I would have used robot rules.

I don't really think I ever had time to do that much, I was either too busy trading, or trying to avoid being shot at.
