Unless I missed something, white globes didn't make it into the first edition of Mongoose Traveller. To allow emulation of some of the science fiction that has full-blown energy shields, I wanted to put together some very non-canon rules for them, loosely based on the black globe rules. For capacity, these follow the same rule as black globes for points per ton of capacitor, capacitor cost, and power plant percentage that counts as capacitors. For discharge, white globes always discharge at the 100% rate (.01*ship tonnage*power plant rating). For TL 22 and 23, intermediate globes are possible up to the limit of Armor 20 (e.g. at TL 22 an Armor 15 globe could be made for 300 tons and 600 MCr, while TL 23 can make any Armor rating up to 20 at 10 tons and 20 MCr per point). A Shield software program can be set up to automatically disengage the white globe generator if the available capacitor space drops below a set percentage, in order to avoid overload and destruction of the ship.
