So, as of August, 2008, Which Version are you playing (or playing with, if you don't have a group)?

I'm just asking about rules, NOT settings.

If Hybrid, tick the major sources as well.

Your answers are not public.

Playing (PBP here on CotI) appears to be a fusion of CT and Mongoose but from my side of the screen it's all CT. Any Mongoosing of the game is in the hands of the ref as far as I'm concerned.

Playing with (at the moment) CT. I'm on a nostalgia kick.

EDIT: Ah there's the poll :) Didn't see it a moment ago.

Homebrew heavily based on CT.

Combat is a hybrid of T20/T4 + house rules.

Character generation is CT + MT special duty and rule of 4 + house rules

I may include the MgT contacts and special events...

LBB2 ships + house rules

Trade LBB2

I may borrow the MgT trade rules.

A homebrew system using mainly GURPS Traveller (technology), Mongoose
Traveller (especially character generation) and BRP (roleplaying - yep, per-
centages, Vile ! :D).

I stopped using CT once MGT became available to me, since MGT's systems
(especially character generation) are far better for my setting and offer mo-
re of the options I intend to use.

I'm still sticking to Megatraveller for the moment. I've played a few games of Mongoose Traveller and haven't yet had any major issues with it but as it sits at the moment it doesn't have the scope of the MT system (and I actually like MT's combat).

With time I may switch to it though depending on what Mongoose comes up with in the future (and hoping for a vast improvement in presentation).

Not currently playing Traveller, but when I do, it's Classic, baby, Classic.

Classic Traveller. It's the only edition with "Class" in the title.

We've (my group) used, in play, both MT-homebrew and other homebrews. This is how I've voted.

I've played with CT, MT, T4 and MGT, while I own everything except for THero.

I've run games using all of the above, except Interstellar Wars and Hero.

I'm currently using either Savage Traveller or Classic Traveller, depending on which group I'm running games for.

There can be only one ruleset, and it uses percentages. :)
BRP (roleplaying - yep, percentages, Vile ! :D).
Oops. I forgot to tick CT as my major source for technology and character generation. :p

I'm tempted to move to MGT once the other rule books come out, but I probably won't because I don't really play any more and I can't justify the expense. I'm tempted because TMB (The Main Book) has other options for tech beyond the old Traveller standards, like jump drive.

Wouldn't touch CT with a lengthy east-european, haven't played MT or TNE in a decade, T20 is a no-starter over here. Currently using GT because when the Campaign startet MGT was not out. The next scenario (starting as a PBM) will use MGT.

In terms of the combined results of the various polls here, on RPG.net, The RPG Site, and EN World, here's what we have as of around 10:45 this evening:

CT 31
MT 14
TNE 7
T4 4
GT 3rd 10
T20 9
MGT 50
GT 4th/IW 6
TH 1
Other 28

Interesting but fairly inconclusive. we'll see where it stands in a week or so.

Should I post this poll over on the Avenger boards as well?

Allen

CT homebrew for me.

Looks like MGT is in the lead, but it's a new toy - I wonder how it will poll thirty years from now? :smirk:

Not currently playing Traveller, but when I do, it's Classic, baby, Classic.

Classic Traveller. It's the only edition with "Class" in the title.

It careers, damnit...you T20 revisionist ;)

I voted for a MGT & Hybrid. I will continue to CT cmbt rules for some time but there are some interesting tweaks that MGT does that just make CT way cooler.

Hi, I didn't vote...

Hi,

Since I'm not playing anything right now I didn't vote, but ever since I picked up GURPS Traveller: Interstellar Wars last year I've wanted to try and do a hybrid of it with either CT or MGT, since there's parts of GT:IW I really like, but I haven't wanted to learn an entirely new rule set right now. I have used CT in the past and MGT seems close enough to it to not be as big a leap in learning as GURPS seems like it would be.

Regards

PF

I got two other guys to go out and buy Mongoose, which is their first version of Traveller they can remember (although one remebers Twilight 2000 very well). It's a Merc Group with a Vargr Scout as their taxi driver...

I run MGT with a healthy dose of everything else for background info and gear. Using CT adventures, GURPS for background info and T20 for gear and weapons (converting to MGT of course).

Classic Traveller. It's the only edition with "Class" in the title.

:) You missed the literalness of the statement kafka, S4 wouldn't make that mistake, he means Classic Traveller has Class.

Of course if you want to accuse anyone of classism in Traveller, I'll take it, T20 does have more Class than any other version, it's Levels above the rest ;)
