What's the "Look" of M0?

SType

SOC-9
I am wondering how you folks visualize the M0 setting.

I like to think of M0 looking very different from the Golden Age setting of CT. This started with an attempt to rationalize the different look of the ships in T4. Of course, it made sense that the ships would look different--they were about two TLs lower and 1100-1200 years older than what we were used to. One could only get a certain amount of detail out of the B&W illustrations, however--and I tend to write off the Foss plates as stylized symbolism of "science fiction" in general, not a faithful depiction of anything very "Traveller."

So the concept of M0 I have come up with is furnished with ornate, somewhat baroque ships with soft lines--the descendants of several hundred years of Sylean ship-design. The lower TL won't necessarily provide the customizable hull appearance described in the Starship Operators Manual. The early 3I is a very merchantile society focused on trade and wealth-building, so I imagine most private and commercial ships has having gold, silver or bronze colored plating, with black detailing and scroll-work.

I see vast fleets of aging starships, as represented in the Foss paintings. Greedy and Idealistic individuals willing to throw themselves into the business of First Contact with the numerious Pocket Empires out there. I see an Imperium that is struggling to assert itself amidst hundreds of other like minded Pocket Empires.
