• Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
  • We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.

What would your stats be?

Timelords has tests for each stat, so aging rolls don't apply.
For example, Strength is tested by how much weight you can hold straight out to your side for 5 seconds. A few minutes at the gym with dumbbells can justify your stats.
SAT/ACT scores provide INT in Timelords, although I'd switch that to EDU. Based on their tests, you can devise others.

Many of their tests depend on ratification by the party, so it's harder for power gamers to bull their way to inflated stats.
My Timelords stats (1-20 system)
Strength 12
Dexterity 11
Constitution 9
Appearance 12
Bravado 19
Perception 11
Intelligence 19
Will 13
Power 10
Timelords has no SOC, that'd be average.
1/2 term college, 1.5 terms service & retail, 1/2 term various, 5 terms military.
Be seeing you; it's a big 'verse!

Oh man, I hope Traveller gives you some solace. I had a bad patch in 2008 and retreated for 12 months into Traveller, maybe back to a simpler, more rewarding world.

Hell, right now?

Str-4
Dex-5
End-4
IQ-14
Ed-15+
Ss-3

Bankruptcy-5, Public Speaking-5, Losing finances-5, working low wage jobs-5
nearly losing your house-5, social disaster-3

I bet with all the camping, fishing, hiking, sailing, martial arts and outdoorsman skills I've accumilitated I'd have a killer D&D charcater :)

As it stands now I have no combat rifleman skills (though I've shot rifles and revolvers), no carousing skills, no forgery skills, no piloting skills, no navigational skills (other than googleing my destination or buying a map at a gas station), I build my own computers, I've done various sports, I even had an impromptu stunt driving course via my old film days ... wow.

But, I have no LOTUS-123, no business administration skills of anykind...hmm, what else? Admin?

Argh...need to go run errands.

In CT terms (using S4: CotI), I'd be:

Scientist 3 Terms, Age 32
UPP 5749C6
Admin-2, Carousing-1, Computer-1

Remember, this is CT, so no specific skills for social sciences and/or humanities - all my education is summed up by EDU and Admin. My writing skills are INT, EDU and Admin.

Using sort of a hodge-podge of systems.

Scholar/Boffin, age 62
UPP 665ED7
Skills: Admin-2, Computer-1, Slugthrower Rifle-3, Slugthrower Pistol-2, Explosives-3/4, Instruction-2/3, Jack-of-Trades-2, Tactics-2/3, Medical-1, Pilot-0

Education probably should be a C/E, after looking at T5 Education, as it would depend on the area of expertise. I have taught from Middle School through College level, but I am not sure what that would equate to Instruction-wise, so I put in a range.

I wouldn't survive long in the CTU...

What's there to "inspect" on a septic tank? Either it's full or it isn't... :oo: I can put them in but I don't inspect them... ;)

Is it draining properly?
Is it leaking (other than the requisite leach field)?
Is it collecting foreign objects and/or indigestibles?
Is it growing the right bacteria?

If it is leaking or the field has failed it's time to dig it all up and start over in the reserve field location. Bacteria will form and recover from virtually anything in short order as this has already been researched.

If it was installed properly it is draining properly. Septic systems don't generally shift much if you put them in right. The biggest problem is if you don't bother to compact the soil, gravel, sand, etc., the system sits on.

OK, let's give this a try ... using Classic Traveller at 2 skills per term:

Initial Stats @ age14 = 666C74

Term 0 (age 14-17) = Other
Skills: Demolition-1, Streetwise-1
(barely made the survival roll, failed reenlistment)
Term 2-3 (age 18-25) = College and University
Skills: Computer-1, Engineering (civil)-1, Edu+?
Term 4-9 (age 26-49) = MegaCorporation (Project Manager)
Skills: Engineering (civil)-3, Liaison-3, Administration-2, Art-1, Legal-1, Streetwise-1, Edu+?
Term 10 (age 50+) = still a work in progress

Current Stats @ age 52 = 464BB8

Engineering (civil)-4, Liaison-3, Administration-2, Streetwise-2, Art-1, Computer-1, Demolition-1, Legal-1
